    8 would probably be the most if you want a more natural feel rather than over crowding

    I def. do not want it over crowded, this is going to be for my 9 year old! Is the number the same for the cherry shrimp as well, or slightly lower?

    You could have more cherry shrimp, the general rule is 10 cherries per gallon, but if you start adding some and feel like it's getting to be to much then you can stop. Cherries will also breed and tend to keep their numbers in check.:)
