60 Gallon Tank 13in common pleco. Yikes!

Got a tank from a friend and they had a few fish with it already. 3 little black skirt tetras and a 13-15inch common pleco.

They took all the decorations out of the tank because the pleco needs to fill width of the tank to turn around (60 gallon tall, it's about 15in from front to back).

I frankly don't have interest in keeping this giant and possibly still growing fish in this tank. I'm in New England so I don't think I can release him into any pond around here unless I'm OK with a death sentence.

Any advice on what to do with him?

Maybe a fish store will take it. I know i see some pretty big plecos at mi e from time to time. Or maybe someone with a big tank with an oscar or something might like a pleco that isn't still just a bitty littke thing

hi and welcome

contact out Ohio Fish Rescue, they have tons of monster fish tanks, like 4400g, 3000g, etc, and an indoor swimming pool with a 6' armiapima and other large cats and arowanas.

they currently have the largest common pleco 38-39" long, beating out Predatory Fins.

they make cross country trips to rescue all kinds of fish.

As said, check with local fish stores. Even my Petco takes orphaned fish.

Why In the world would you think of releasing it into a local pond ? Please don’t release anything from a pet store into the wild!
