I have a 13 gallon freshwater tank with 1 male betta. We have a few silk plants and a few java ferns. Temperature 80 degrees, Ph 8.0, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrates 5.0.

We want to add maybe 3 platies or Endlers Livebearers and 1 or 2 nerite snails.

Does this sound reasonable? Not sure how many snails is best for this size tank?

Platys will breed (they're livebearers)and I've heard that they need 20gals. The nerites should be ok. Do the snails first because if your betta attacks them constantly you'll know you can't do any fish.

Welcome to Fishlore.
I would personally do the endlers instead of the platties because endlers are really colorful plus they have are smaller and have a smaller bio load so you can add more. They are social fish so do at least 3-4.
And a couple nerites should keep your tank free of algae.
