Hi all,
finally found the time to show the rescape of my tank!
There were a few things that annoyed me in the old version, especially missing swimming space and missing cover. That's why I've decided for a radical restart.
Additionally, my fish were ill and could not be treated probably, most likely due to the soil.
The fish are currently being treated in a big mortar bucket (90l / 24g ... I'd call that luxus quarantine) and it finally seems to show some results, all fish are well again.
So here we go!
Tank size:
80x35x45 - 126l / 33g
Lights:
1x Chihiros WRGB 2 pro 60
1x Weller-LED Spezial RGB (yet to be installed) - since this is most likely unknown to most of you: RGB light with the reds, blues and green wavelengths shifted a few nm ... additional colors being pronounced. as in dark reds, dark greens and dark blues)
CO2-system:
Self combined
2kg Bottle
Sera pressure reducer
Chihiros diffusor
Filter:
Eheim Professionel 5e 700
Eheim Mech
20ppi sponge
Sera Crystal Clear
Seachem Matrix
Seachem Purigen
Substrate:
Aquariumsand nature white 0.1 - 0.4mm
JBL Aquabasis plus
ADA Products (Tourmaline BC, Clear Super, Bacter 100) - Always wanted to try these
Hardscape:
Amtra Moorwood
Different riverstones and gravels
Plants:
At the moment:
Blyxa japonica
Fissidens fontanus "Phoenix Moss"
Fissidens Grandifons
Anubias barteri var. nana
Anubias barteri var. nana 'Pinto'
Anubias gracilis
Anubias barteri var. nana 'Paxing'
Bucephalandra sp. "Brownie Ghost"
Lilaeopsis mauritiana
Lilaeopsis brasiliensis
Utricularia graminifolia
Pogostemon helferi
Microcarpaea minima
Echinodorus 'Rainers Kitty'
Echinodorus × opacus "Rataj"
Echinodorus 'Red Devil'
Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red'
Cryptocoryne "Purpurea"
Cryptocoryne spiralis 'Red'
Lagenandra thwaitesii
Hygrophila salicifolia "Narrow Leaf"
Eriocaulon Quinquangulare
Trithuria Laterna
On the way (should arrive Thursday):
Rotala ramosior "Florida"
Anubias sp. "Congensis Mini"
Bucephalandra sp. "Biblis"
Bucephalandra sp. "Lamandau Purple"
Bucephalandra sp. "Deep Purple"
Bucephalandra sp. "Blue Green"
On the way (no idea when they arrive)
Bucephalandra Purple Dust
Bucephalandra Pink Devil
Bucephalandra Sangu silver
Bucephalandra Titan
Bucephalandra Black Sangu
Bucephalandra Black Metallica
Bucephalandra Blue Metallica
Bucephalandra magician
Bucephalandra Brownie Neo
Bucephalandra Purple Vain
Bucephalandra Super Blue
Bucephalandra Black Vanity Original
Bucephalandra Black Cobra
Fish (currently in quarantine):
Pseudomugil signifer
Microdevario kubotai
Pangio kuhlii
Neocaridina
I'm thinking about adding Otocinclus in a few months.
Water parameters:
Temperature 24 °C / 74F
pH: 6.3
CO2: 30 mg/l / ppm
General Hardness: 8 °dGH
Carbonate Hardness: 2 °dKH
Nitrates (NO3): 1 mg/l / ppm
Phosphates (PO4): 0,1 mg/l / ppm
Potassium (K): 4 mg/l / ppm
Iron (Fe): 0,05 mg/l / ppm
Difficulties so far:
Unfortunately the delivery of the plants was delayed by the transport service ... that's why the plants only had 5°C / 40F when they arrived. Can't rule out that some got frost damage and won't make it.
Especially the Blyxa japonica, Lagenandra meeboldii and Anubias 'Pinto' are not looking good, might have to reorder those. The dealer already offered to replace them in case they won't make it.
Utricularia graminifolia is pretty difficult anyways and using them in fresh tanks is a bit of a gamble. We shall see.
The Pogostemon helferi I'm trying to cultivate as an epiphyte ... also not looking good but that might be the switch to a new tank.
Concept:
Colorful but nature-like. Not as incredibly colorful as the previous tank. Mostly green with disctint color accents.
2 big roots, on thich the moss may go wild. And yes I'm aware of the work I'll be having.
The design is topped off which some rocks I tested for lime / chalk. (Simply with ph/kh minus, basically hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid).
I would recommend that to everyone before using random rocks, some of them foamed like crazy.
The bladderwort and the grass plants will be allowed to conquer all the substrate they want. The moss, as mentioned, will have the roots as their kingdom.
The Echinodorus and the Lagenandra will provide a lot of cover for the fish. In the higher regions that will be the Anubia's job.
Misc and the future:
The heater will be changed. The Eheim heater was one I had laying around ... the Aquael Ultra Heater that I have for this tank is in the quarantine bucket.
Additionally I had a glass cover made to protect the fish from jumping and to lower the evaporation.
The lamp is not mounted to the wall with a hanging setup, that enables me to have it a little higher for better illumination uniformity.
The tank will also have a dosing system, should be delivered Thursday, since the Chihiros one is finally available in Germany.
Additionally I will add some botanicaly as in leaves and some wood pieces, those are soaking right now.
I think that was the most important stuff ... if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
