125 Gallon Aquarium Build!!

Tank: 125g 72"X18"X23" tall
Subrate: Moonlight sand by caribsea
Roughly 23 plants: 7 moneyworts. 3 are some type of anubis species. 5 Anacharis bunch. 2 different types of wisteria.
4 java ferns and 1 unknown
Filtration: Fluval fx4 canister with aqueaclear 110 HOB
1 single driftwood
A ton of rocks for decorations.
1 ehiem 300w heater
24w green killing machine uv sterlizer
2 misc. Decorations: 24k solid gold bar and 1 small amethyst rock cluster
100g tetra whisper air pump (currently not setup)

Does anyone think I am overstocked?
Inhabitants: 2 oscar (3inch and a 2 inch)
2 frontosas(2inches each)
2 bumble bee cichlids(2 inches each)
4 clown loaches(1 and a half inch each)
2 rainbow sharks(2 inches each)
2 convict cichlids( 1 and a half inch each)
2 tropheus (1 red band and 1 yellow 1 inch each)
2 yellow lab cichlids (1 and a half inch each)
2 orange burst (1 inch each)
2 silver red peacocks (1 inch each)
And about 3 misc. Cichlids all 2 inches each.
And I only plan to get 3 more fish and then the tank is done stocking. Which is 1 gold nugget plecostumous L-018(I think) and 2 more clown loaches.
Any idea on if this is too much for my 125?
One day I hope to be able to use this tank as a grow out tank....one day...

Good, The bigger aquarium always the better aquarium. Not overstocked.

 

Awesome! Do you have any advice on what site I could use to possibly buy a gold nugget pleco from? Mainly just any reputable company that cares about packing their fish the best they can. All the fish I have so far have been from multiple LFS's and I have no experience with buying online.

 

That stocking won't work. There's so many issues I don't even know where to begin. Size, diet, parameters, aggression...

 

For conservative stocking info go to . It is best to determine stocking based on adult fish dimensions. You plan in the future to use this as a grow tank but unless the fish are there for less than 8month its ok. Some of the fish you listed grow fast and need more room / territory. I would not recommend getting more clown loaches (even though they do like groups of 5). (also they are very susceptible to ick.) You may need more plants or taller décor and more caves so that line of sites are obstructed; this will lend itself to less aggression and thus less stress and thus possibly less "sick" fish. I would also would have 2 heaters rather than 1 in you long tank. This will 1) even the water temp throughout the tank and 2) there will always be a back-up incase something happens to the other.

Oscars aren't a good match for that set up they get to big to fast for the rest of the fish. Those convicts if they are a breeding pair will become very aggressive and cause continuous fights over their breeding area it happen to me. Mbuna's and peacocks can work together but most times Mbuna's are to aggressive for peacocks. Then I know many people say don't mix different African lakes together but I can't talk from experience.

 

Unless everything goes well, it is very possible the MalawI and Tanganyka cichlids will eventually be either eaten or killed by the oscar's, convicts and frontosas.
