120 Gallon Stocking Options

I currently am in the process of getting a 120 gallon aquarium, really planted, lots of driftwood and hiding spots.

This is the stocking.

20 Cherry Shrimp
1 male and 3 female guppies
1 male and 3 female platies/mollies. (which one?)
6 Albino Corydora
2 Bolivian Ram (pair)
2 Apistogramma Cacatouides (pair)
10 Rummy nose Tetras
10 Colombian Tetras


Which one should i add if kept single... One DISCUS or ANGELFISH

Discus require a school of at least six and in most cases a species only tank so that’s not an option unless you want to do that.
An angelfish would be fine being the only angel in the tank.
As for mollies or platies I think that would just be up to which one you like more.
I would either pick the ram pair or the apistos because I think there fight but maybe the tank is big enough not sure on that one.
Everything else is good as far as my knowledge goes.

I'd pick one or the other on the rams and apistos. They both seem to inhabit he bottom a lot. May lead to aggression. Don't add a discus. They need to be with thier own kind, and probably won't get much of a chance to thrive mixed with these fish.

They prefer to be in groups or pairs, but with a pair you may face breeding ALL the time. With the livebearers, just choose one species

Here's what I'd recommend:
RCS
5 female guppies, 2 male
6 albino cories
2 apistos
1-2 angelfish (BTW they will eat the RCS)
18 rummynose OR Columbian tetras
1 albino BN pleco

My rummy noses are a bit expensive (5$ each) that’s why i didn’t pick more. I live in Canada btw. But i like the idea so i’ll think about it.

Anyone else for Angelfish pairs. I know it recommended but would they bully the other fish?

Rosy Tetras

They are all cheaper than rummy noses and also look nice. Should i go for those instead? (one of them)

Silvertips are nice too (if you can find colorful ones)! As for the other guys, I'm sure they'd work just fine! I had some bloodfins earlier on and they were stunning

Would BloodFins school well and survive with other fish

I’m interested in bloodfins but i’m worried that they nip the fins of the angels and my guppies....

Bloodfins arent big on fin nipping. They wont school well unless you give them reason to. Mine dont like my african butterfly cichlids on the bottom nor my african butterfly fish at the top so they school well.

Bloodfin cost the most and i find them a little bit nicer than the others...

For now it’s Pristella or Bloodfin...

Shop around. I bought my school of 12 bloodfins for not too much. Sometimes the chains will have buy one get one half off sales on stock also.

That’s what i was thinking... i’ll see what i’ll do. I’m going to visit a local petstore today for the first time, it got amazing reviews so i’ll see if there’s anything!

Wow! They had super cheap rummy noses! 2,50 for 1 and the next one was 15% off!

So which one should i get now???? Considering the bloodfins would have to be shipped and they cost more... Which one would y’all go for as a school of around 10?

Which one do you want more? Instant gratification is nice, but remember it's a long term choice.

I feel like Bloodfins are simpler to the eye, but i really like the rummy noses too...

Also if i would have cherry and amano shrimp, would the amano not allow breeding for the cherries?

It depends honestly. If you keep the amanos hungry, they do a better job cleaning the tank, but also become more opportunistic. I have a young one that steals a sinking carnivore pellet from my kuhlis every time I drop some in. They may eat cherry eggs, but they wont hurt the cherries themselves. The odds of them finding all the eggs in a tank with enough hiding spots is negligible, but your fish will eat the babies whenever they get the chance.

I have no idea on temperature compatibility but...
You will probably need to remove 2 Angel's at some point. Avoid the veils unless you can source a proven breeder.
Up the cories to 8. You can mix albino with the same species (usually emerald.) You cant mix other cories with them. They will get along, but prefer their own kind. Color morphs dont count as a different species.

Other than that I cant find any faults but again, wait for some of our better stockers.
