120-150 gal tank setup

HI all new to boards I got few questions. I just got a 29 gallon tank a few weeks ago. I wanna upgrade to bigger size 100-150 gallon tank. What I fish I like are listed below. I wanna make sure I have enough room for them and would like to know how many could fit in the 150 gallon tank.

CAE
Pleco's
Shark's (red tails, bala's, trI color, Irdescent ect...)
Gourmai's Blue, Dwarf ect..
Barb's

(I currently have few of them in 29 gallon tank no aggression between them they doing really well.)

If any one knows any other colorful fish and good looking fish post there names too please.

I also wanna know what I am getting into before I upgrade. What can I expect with 150 gallon tank. How much scapeing will be allowed with normal set up. How expensive does it cost to maintain and such. any info would help. Thanks all!

what fish do you have now? some sharks and barbs do have a tendancy to get grouchy with other fish as do some gourami.. also gourami can fall victI'm to barbs due to nipping. What kind of plecos are you thinking of getting?

Bala sharks and iridescent sharks will be a great combination, both of these species grow up to 1'. large sharks may even eat small barbs, so be careful; u have to keep a large group of barbs in that big tank to avoid their fin nipping habit, common plecos will also go along fine, u can add gouramis too, but some gouramis r territorial, so study a lot befre adding them and don't overcrowd your tank, so far it is a great list Wodian, 150 gallon is a lot of hardwork so u have to study a lot again to start a tank that big .

Good Luck .

Right now I have
5 red tail sharks
1 albino red tail shark
1 CAE
2 Dwarf Gorumai's
2 Catfish sharks (not sure of exact name but they follow the CAE like a mother for some reason) they about same size but CAE is about 2 inch longer

they haven't been nipping since I got them all they seem to be happy with each other.

I was thinking about putting only Gourmais or oscar type fish on the 150 gal and keep the sharks in the 29gal. I just don't have much info yet. I am the kinda person who really goes by the look of the fish color body type ect.. so I am open to all suggestions.

I did more research of the fish will 150gal tank keep ID sharks for 2-3 years until I upgrade to a much bigger tank like 300-500gal tank? I don't wanna be cruel to my fish but I love the ID sharks so I an't afraid to put the money into it.

Sorry for spamming but I wanna do everything right. Here's the list of fish I am looking at for the 150 gal as of now. I an't saying ill put them all but that's some of the choices I am looking at.

ID sharks
Red tail sharks
Bala sharks
Pleco's 1 is blueish black with white spots (leopard I think its called) and 1 sail fin or maybe gold nugget.
Gourmai's variety most likey just Dwarfs or blue.
Oscar's
TrI color shark
Cichlids variety.

Depending on the size I don't know how many I can fit in a 150 gal tank along with the scapeing I don't wanna overcrowed but have a nice variety of fish without them being aggesive toward each other.

i'm not sure about that umm u could try it but the sharks would have to be bigger than the oscar beacuse oscars eat almost anything

Peace Out Callum!

If I do go with oscars according to fishlore bala's will go with them. How many oscars will fit in a 150 gallon tank along with some balas * they get 13inchs long*. and 2 plecos for the cleaning. a rough figure would do. I would like the right amount with out over crowding the tank. the tank is 5 feet long 3 feet deep 2 1/2 feet wide roughly if I remember what the store said.

Thanks all for the quick replies btw. All help is greatfully apperciated.

U can't tell anything about Oscars, they r great fighters, they may even fight with IDs and balas. so i'm not sure if it is safe! but u should not keep more than 2 oscars in that 150 gallon along with a common pleco. and u can't keep live plants if u keep oscars, they will make a mess in your tank.

Getting it started is the hardest and most expensive thing to do

indeed hard and expensive as I am finding out but that's not a big deal. Is there any other fish that act like oscars as I read about oscars they are playful and can even be hand feed at full grown. Also for scapeing what is the most lifelike plants you can get? I see plastic ones but they seem to no be lifelike.

also here is a oscar question what type of oscar is in this picture

All Cichlids like angels, jack dempsey, blue acaras etc. r more or less playful and majestic, they r a great fish to have, really interesting, I have 8 angels. the oscar in the picture is a common green oscar I think.

well blue acaras are really nice fish I have 2 with 4 jewels (2 just laid eggs ) and they showed no aggression it is a gamble with fish like blue acaras if they show aggression or not u could have

HekeliI really nice fish they get a really nice orange colour u could have them with firemouths red horse face green horse face and orange heads there all really nice but a bit big exept the firemouths or

maybe severums jack dempsey pcars texas chilids salmon cats which are all big but still nice looking fish or u can go for more species like small fish (boring)

but u should really go down to ur LFS and see what they have that u like make a list nad we can find combinations

Peace Out Callum!
