75 Gallon Tank 1100 TDS. Should I be concerned ?

BestFishTankGuy

The weirdest thing just happened.

my water was at ~400TDS.

i Had a columnaris out break so I did a water change 60%, added 1tbsp salt per 5 gallons.

was about to fertilize my tank so I did a TDS reading. 1100 TDS. where did this come from. All I did was add salt and seachem prime to the new water. I tested my tap and it’s ~430 tds

the only thing I can think of was that I added a new canister filter and while installing it sprayed my Fluval stratum/seachem fluorite and it made my water murky for a bit. But that was on Saturday…. Where did this spike in TDS come from ?

The salt would have contributed.

LowConductivity

5 gallons = 18 liters. 1 table spoon = 17,000ish mg salt. 17,000/18…..and there’s your tds spike
