Help! I've lost 6 tetras, 3 platys and 2 guppys and a Cory since Sunday.
I have recently treated the tank for ich. Medicated with paragaurd and did daily water changes. I stopped after 7 days of treatment. Two days latter I saw ick again on the tetras. I started treatment again that day. Lost all tetras in 24 hours. The next day I lost 2 platys and 2 guppys. No sign of ick on these fish Fins nipped pretty food. At that time I noticed my female betta harassing another guppy. I have since rehomed the betta. The next day I notice ick on my last platy and lost him and a panda Cory the next day. I am on day three of my second round of medication "paraguard" no signs of ick on any remaining fish.
29 gallon high
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 5
Temp is 78
ph is 8.2
6 panda Corys
1 dwarf gourami
And 2 guppys

It sounds like the Paraguard isn't killing the ich, and the ich is killing the fish. Fish can be infected with ich without you seeing it - it often attacks the gills first, where it's not visible to you.

It's up to you whether you continue Paraguard or not, but I would stop using it, do a few large water changes to remove it from the water, and switch to the heat method:
ICH (ICK) Life Cycle and Natural Treatment

After the heat treatment, I would lower your temp to 75 F. 78 F is too high for the panda cories permanently.

I went up to 78 to speed up the ick cycle. I've been battling ick for a while and initially treated with the heat, 89 My heater is a little big so for a half a day my water went up to 91. I lost a platy and My Corys looked so stressed so I switched to paragaurd.

I'm not a pro, but shouldnt the pH be lower than 8.2?

I know it's high. But hasn't bothered any of my fish for the last year

89 and 91 F are too high. I would try 86 F with daily water changes for two weeks.

How long did you try the heat treatment?

Your pH is fine for your fish.

A week. I also used salt with it.

If I choose to go this route. Should I add a carbon filter to rid the tank of medication. Or just water changes.

A week isn't long enough, and it's not recommended to use salt with cories as they are very sensitive to it. I personally would try again with the heat method. Don't heat the tank so high, don't add salt, do daily gravel vacs, and follow this for two weeks.

Carbon or multiple large water changes would work.

My ph is higher than that (at least 8.4), but really not an issue after doing a bit more careful acclimation process. I hope you get your issue figured out and that you can save the rest of your fish.

I also had a problem with ick, I used paragaurd and aqurium salt, I also had 3 panda cories as well, and they were ok with the salt, they continued to eat and play, dosed it for 4 days and all ick went away, and I always keep mt temp at 82 f, haven't lost any fish so far and this happened 2 months ago, I hope you can rid your fish from ick, good luck

Does anybody recommend the Tetra ick guard? Active ingredient is victoria green?

Get a quality UV sterilizer of at least 8W (for 29 gal) and you'll never have ich again.

I haven't used Tetra Ick Guard, but I started using HikarI Ich-X last night for my betta (it also has malachite/Victoria green in it)

I believe he has velvet and / or ick (found white spots on him an hour after dosing, but not before).

A couple times over the last few days we thought he had passed away, as he was so lethargic and hiding.

Today he is not hiding and is up with the floating plants in his tank.

Just noticed one of my guppys is covered. Almost fuzzy. Anyone recommend a dip or a bath for this little guy. I am choosing to raise my temp slowly and see if this does it

Post a picture of the guppy.
You may have a much bigger problem.

I've been finding these on my substrate every morning. Just switched from gravel to sand so I'm not sure if this is new or not. May be part of the problem. May just be poop

That guppy looks like it has TERRIBLE ich. Once it reaches the point that your fish look like they've been rolled around in salt, its a grave situation.

Ich is almost always present in aquariums just like germs in our air. It only shows up on fish when they get extra stressed or the temp is dropped too much. If you DONT treat it correctly for a long enough period, it will still be attacking your fish. There is no medicine that can kill ich when its attached to your fish. Here is the best way to treat it, and you'll need to do this for 2 weeks to be safe:

1: Turn the temp up 86-88 degrees.

2: Add a TON of air. Warm water doesn't hold oxygen well, so add a bunch of air stones. Also, most fish die from ich suffocating their gills, which you can't see. Adding a bunch of aeration helps the fish breath.

3: Every day do a 50% water change and vacuum the gravel well. When ich is attached to a fish its like a parasite feeding off the host. When it drops off the fish it goes into its reproductive stage. Its important to clean all plants, the sides and bottom of the aquarium to suck it all up. If you have a lot of decorations, take them out and clean them well via boiling, bleach, etc.

4: Every day dissolve a teaspoon of salt per gallon of aquarium in a separate container and mix into your aquarium AFTER the water change. The salt will help kill the ich AND help with the fishes recovery. What does the dentist tell you when you have a tooth pulled or have stitches in your mouth? "Swish with salt"

If you follow those simple steps for 2 weeks, you'll kill off your ich outbreak. Good luck.

Grave indeed. Lost him his morning. I have raised the heat to 86 over the last 24 hours. I will look into adding the salt. I am down to 6 fish. Since the health of the fish at my local LFS seem so poor. Does it make sense to add fish now while I am treating the tank for ich and other parasites. Unfortunately a quarantine tank is not an option.

No, don't add any more fish until you get the ich under control.

Definitely do NOT add any fish to that tank until the ich is 100% under control. And introducing fish without quarantine is a disaster waiting to happen. You WILL have another ich outbreak doing it that way at some point if you stay in the hobby long enough and buy enough fish. Good luck with your current tank. If you lose all your fish then I would keep the tank running, bump the temp up even higher and continue water changes for another week or so and you should be good to add more fish. I hope the rest pull through for you.
