10g stand - Buy or Build?

Hi all!
I am just doing some planning for a possible future 10g. Long story short, before my mom lets me have the tank, I need to figure out where I'm going to put it and what it is going to go on. So my 2 options right now are to either buy a stand or build a stand. Here are the pros and cons I thought out:
BuyBuild
Pros
  • Already made
  • Parents will trust the stability
  • Looks better
  • Don't have to shop for parts
  • Instant
  • Less expensive
  • Customizable
  • Can look just as good if done right
Cons
  • More expensive
  • Not very customizable
  • My parents don't trust my building abilities
  • Have to do all the calculations of how much of what we need
  • Have to build the stand
  • Takes time
Do you guys think that I should build a stand or buy one?
If build...
  • What materials/supplies do I need?
  • Any good videos on how to build a stand?
If buy...
  • Anyone have affordable recommendations?
Thanks!

You got a sturdy desk or dresser to put it on?

I’d buy. I always build mine but if your parents don’t trust your skills that’s kind of a deal breaker because there is no changing their minds

Sadly no.

I might be able to change their minds... We'll see. I found a great video from King of DIY explaining how to build stands so I think I'll follow that and draw something up.

Do you have proper tools if you want to go the DIY route? If not (or if you’re not very handy) DIY, may wind up costing you more.
if cost is an issue, perhaps look into buying a used piece of furniture from Craigslist or the like.

Yup. I have all the tools. My dad is an engineer so I bet I could force him to help me lol.
