Okay so I've been thinking about a cool community tank for years now I've done endless research I've always had tanks with just one big fish in it but this time I want a bunch of different fish together with live plants, drift wood, rocks and a sand substrate and this is what I would love to stock it with and I think would be really cool and I want your guys input as well
Mollies-schools
Platties-schools
Swordtails-schools
Cory cats-schools
Ghost cats-schools
KuhlI loach-schools
pearl gourami-just one centerpiece
And I've also been thinking clown loaches or some different type of loaches or maybe some shrimp and also tetras I just really want something with a lot of different species

You should get some serpae tetras.
These were the exact tetras I was thinking of adding they look like little fire balls dashing around the tank

"Schools" of mollies, platies, and swordtails, will overrun your tank with offspring.

There are a lot of really cool guppies out there. I've got two male yellow lyertail that are just fantastic - very active and flamboyant! A school of them would be awesome!

edit: I actually wish I'd gotten a school of guppies instead of my black neon tetras, who are the fish that don't do anything.

Yes depending on the male female ratio I know that will be a problem I will run in too and I'm looking in to that if all else fails and I know it's mean but I have a oscar tank as well

Greetings and welcome to Fishlore

Live bearers do not school. With mollies and platties I keep only females. With guppies and swordtails I keep only males.

A nice active school fish are the rummy nose tetras. There are a couple different types. I keep the “false” rummy nose. Lovely little fish that is always on the move. Unlike the two schools of neons that we have that mostly just stand still. Our two schools of glow lights are also rather stationary.

OH yes! I'm already thinking! The guys at Petsmart told me that black Friday is the perfect time to get a tank - lots of good deals!

I know they don't school I've just always came to find out with fish it's better to get more of the same species to make them more comfortable that's what I meant by school but thank you for the rummy nose tetra I knew in tetras I'd get the true schooling of the fish I'll definitely look in to rummy nose tetras

And Why do you only keep female mollies and platties and male guppies and swordtails I know to do with breeding problems but are they more colorful in different genders as some fish are or is that just your personal preference

Male guppies are much brighter and more colorful than the females, and only male swordtails have the swords on their tails. I'm not sure about mollies or platys though.
