10 gallon tank upgrading to 20 gallon.

I have a 10-gallon tank with 2 mollies in it. As many of you have told me I need to upgrade to a 20-gallon tank. So I was wondering how do I do this process?

Thanks for the help!

also, the main reason I am upgrading is because one of the mollies won't let the other eat. ( both are females)

When I was upgrading from my 10to a 29 gallon I just used the same filter and cartridge. If your filter is not meant for a 20 gallon I would use both a 20 gallon filter and your current filter for about 1 month to basically move yo cycle to your 20 gallon filter. I would also move as much of the water from to 10 to the 20 gallon as you can

Actually it's a 29g, that's minimum for mollies since they get large. Well let's say you already have the stand and tank, along with hood and lights. You'd need these things-
Heater
Filter
Substrate(I suggest PFS or BDBS)
Plants and decor
First you'd start with the substrate, put that in. Fill it up with water add the new filter and heater. Put in decor and plants. Then let is cycled, you can buy TSS to have it cycle faster. Next you'd put the mollies and the ten gallon filter in the 29g(to keep it cycled).

You can and should ( unless you're making a redecorating change) use as much from the old tank as you can. That includes the substrate.

Get some buckets out, put water in one and put the fish in it. Put water in another and put the plants and decor in it.

Move the old substrate, plus another 20 pounds of new substrate into the tank, add the water from the plant bucket, and redecorate.

Add new conditioned, temperature matched water to the tank, get the filters rolling, and when you can more or less see into the tank, move the fish.

Shut the lights out so they can explore the new tank and settle in.

I need to add more rocks. But I was wondering if I could do a mixture of rocks and sand.
What do yo recommend.

You can. It all depends on the look you want. There are some good threads in the tank build subform that might give you ideas and options.

When I add new conditioners do I restart and put all the amount on or should be remove what has previously Ben in the old tank

You add the conditioner to the water you are adding into the tank to replace the water you removed.

For something like this, I would dose the tank volume.
