10 Gallon Help?

So I bought a 10 gallon tank since it was on sale for Black Friday and already have it all setup now with a colonized filter in it. It’s got 2 heaters in it currently trying to warm it up to the right temp. I set it up about an hour ago now, and I’ve currently got my betta fish in the cup I bought him in, bundled in a blanket in an attempt to keep him warm until the tank reaches the right temp. I was wondering if there was a better or actual way to keep my betta fish warm while the tank heats up? It might not be done until the morning and I don’t want him to be too stressed out in addition to being too cold.

The tank will warm up pretty fast, I would say at most 2 or 3 hours. You betta will be fine with being cold for a little while, but you could empty his cup a little and float him on the top of the water to warm up with the water. What's the temperature now?

If you have a space heater you can set it up in a small room (the bathroom) and run it with the betta in the room. I’ve used a space heater before to keep my tank room (bedroom, I’m not that fancy ) hot when my five gallon’s heater was taken out to recalibrate.

Well- I’d tell you but due to my luck my thermometer just broke. Er well died- any idea how to fix this? It’s a cooking thermometer I’ve been using for the past 6 months. Nvm- it won’t even turn on anymore

I don’t unfortunately have a space heater all I’ve got is what’s in his tank right now

I’m not sure but if that’s one of the little flat circle batteries in the thermometer you might try replacing that. Other than that I have no idea, I’m worse than terrible with mechanic techy things.

As far as the betta goes, since he came to you in a cup he’s probably pretty used to not having heated water and will be fine in the hours (or even into tomorrow) that it takes you to get the situation figured out.

Is there a reason you have two heaters? Hope you cycle that tank before putting your betta in new tank! It's not just about temperature, in fact water quality and amount of nitrite/ammonia ect is more important when first setting it up. Have you looked up the nitrogen cycle?

Hopefully your right- because right now the water is definitely too cold for him, do you think it would be better for me to move one of the heaters over to his 5.5 gallon tank until the morning?

I do know what the nitrogen cycle is- it’s got an already cycled filter medium and I bought another heater along with the tank today because I was pretty certain the heater I currently had in his 5.5 gallon tank would have not been strong enough to maintain a good temperature for him in the 10 gallon. Everything except for half the water is from his old tank, so it still has the bacteria and stuff on it.
