10 Gallon Co2 Set Up - Canada

Really hoping someone can walk me through all the pieces I would need to get in order to set up a pressurized CO2 set up on my 10 Gallon. I have only used excel in the past as CO2 is too intimidating for my 60 gallon.

I live in Canada so hoping for links/products to buy here, also have Amazon prime if they sell anything reliable.

Would love a mentor through this process!

There are DIY kits available, though I prefer automated injection. Here are some bits of hardware you need regardless of your setup:

Drop Checker
4dKH Solution
Bubble Counter
CO2 Proof Tubing (regular airline tubing can't handle the pressure)
Check Valves
Diffuser -or- Reactor (if doing inline injection)

If you choose to go automated:
Outlet Timer
CO2 Regulator with Solenoid
CO2 Canister (can often be rented for super cheap from gas suppliers)

Thank you!

I'd like to steer clear of DIY as I've read they aren't as consistent as the gas canisters. Do you know an example of a gas supplier in Canada or what type of shop I'm looking for?

I'm in the US, but if you are near a sporting goods store, paintball shop, or beverage/brewing supplies distributor, they might have what you need. You can actually use a paintball canister, you just need an adapter nut for it to fit standard CO2 regulators.

Forgot to mention: while you can buy canisters online, they are delivered empty for safety reasons. You will still have to take it to a shop to get it filled. Possible places to get them filled:

Sporting Goods Shop
Paintball Shop
Beverage Distributor
Gas Company
Brewing Equipment Shop
Welding Shop

Good luck!

Regulator with a solenoid. This one has a standard A320 fitting, so 1.1-4.5 kilo bottles will fit it. I have the same one just mine is blue.

Canada must have something against drop checkers. I couldn't find one that ships with Prime :-/

Diffuser:

Other things you will need:
Airline
Extra suction cups
A CO2 tank. Praxair will likely have that (if you have one close).
pH and KH test kits

Hope this helps!

I use two gas stores: Dry Ice & Gases (26 Dorchester Ave- Queensway/Islington) and Sodamistic (37 Baywood rd-Finch/Albion area). Sodamistic refills both paintball and larger cylinders and also sells them. Empty paintball cylinders- at Canadian Tire.
Big Als for regulators, drop checker and solution. They also swap CO2 cylinders.
