I'm about to setup a 10G for my ram pair I just got I'm wondering if I should leave it bare bottom or I have some black sand/gravel I could use what do you think? This tank will be just for the rams and maybe some pond snails.

A pair of rams needs at least 20g.
I notice mine likes to sleep on and pick stuff off the bottom. I'd go with sand.

Plant it heavily and it might work. I had a single male in a 10g for a while and he was happy. Just watch the pair closely. Remove one of them if you see too much aggression. Also be sure to introduce them both at the same time so that one doesn't have a turf advantage over the other.

I wouldnt do it. Rams are pretty active. I had two in a 10 and they looked cramped to me.
