Umm, yes, my betta tank is going on my sturdy, solid pine kitchen island. Do I have an amazing hubby or what? He didn’t even raise an eyebrow when I announced I was setting up a tank on the island. I mean, I already have the 75 g in the kitchen so what’s one more!
I fell in love with philam’s amazing betta spawn and picked out a lovely boy who will be arriving the week after next.
I was originally going to use my quarantine tank but I had one tiger barb experience a mild case of ich so I decided to just get a new 10 g. I have both a 10 and 20 g course sponge filter from aquarium co op in my tanks so I’ll just transfer one when he arrives.
And after having to return tne first purchased tank to petco because I missed a tiny crack, I finally got started today.
I’m trying to use a lot of what I’ve accumulated so the gravel came with my free 29 g that got me started back into fish keeping 3 years ago.
And I had PFS from the 40 b I set up last November.
I have a few buckets full of wood and rocks that I’ve been collecting so I picked out a few.
So here’s the start. The wood will be attached to slate; just haven’t decided if I’m going to glue or silicone it. And I’ll probably add a few more smooth rocks to the left side and group the rocks closer to the sand to make room for a terra cotta pot as a cave.
I’ll trim some of the taller java fern from the 75 g for a background plant in one corner. I have Italian val, crypt costrata, crypt wendti red, and dwarf sag ordered.

And the plants you see are my house plants that live on the end of the island.
