1-2 Gallon Tank For Rcs

I'm just hoping for any thoughts or opinions on an RCS colony in a heated and filtered 1 or 2 gallon tank.

I have an RCS colony right now in one of my tanks. I'm thinking right now about long term stocking options as right now I only have a shoal of pygmy cories a school of cardinal tetras and one male guppy. So eventually I would like to add maybe a pair of german blue rams or a gourami so basically fish that would probably make a meal of my shrimp.

I'm limited on space and there is no way on earth my husband is going to let me set up my spare 10 gallon for shrimp so I'm thinking on the tiny side.

So again any thoughts advice or opinions are very much appreciated

2 gallons you could fit 10 Red Cherrys. If you can try to get a 5 gallon you could put more red cherries, maybe 15-20 or so.

I had an old thread on the same topic, the tank was a 1.5 gal. I was told that you can do a small colony (about 10) RCS or one of their other color variants and 2 amanos.

RCS would work, just remember they breed.

Should do fine. Make sure to get some live plants for them and make sure there is some filter on there and tank stay 75-82 degrees F. And the rule of a couple inches of gravel (smaller substrate is better for the little shrimp ) good luck . Black or darker substrate makes their colors pop more

It's a shame you can't use that 10 gallon.
I recently set up a 5 gallon with 10 rcs in it. I'm already imagining how wonderful more space for them would be.
I understand your constraints, but you might soon find that 1-2 gallons isn't as big as you'd like.
Best of luck!

Red Cherry Shrimp shrimp are easy to sell so you can make a profit out of their baby's and can earn your own money for a 10 gallon

You can look up planted shrimp bowls for inspiration

I just started a 10 gal. But before it was ready I got a good deal on RCS, so I had an old 1 gal that I was keeping some plants in. Decided to use it, it worked out great put in a heater, sponge filter some gravel already had some hornwort and java moss in it. Instant shrimp tank, they thrived (had shrimplets) in there for the last 4 weeks just moved them to the 10. Everybody is doing great. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies guys!! Have the shrimp already in just thinking about moving them from the tank they're in as start planning different stock for that tank.

I don't just didn't want them to be to cramped.

I really wish I could. It sitting in my basement right now collecting dust. It would make an amazing shrimp tank but if I set it up I think my husband would probably make me live in one of my tanks

Do you have kids? Set it up in the kids room.

You wouldn't need to buy much if you already have the tank, shrimp and fish (because the rcs can eat algae and many of the same foods you probably already have for your fish).

Just sayin'.......
