Hi everyone, back again.
I thought my betta was doing better.. Actually, the analfin appears to already have a bit of regrowth, but then again there seem to be a little more split and tattered edges on the tail and dorsal fin. And I just noticed that when the light shines from behind him...
Ok. Thank you very much! I will continue and observe for a couple of weeks. Will be back on here for an update or for more advice. Hoping that the water changes and stress coat will be good enough. I will try to post photos if I can. Have a good week ahead!
Thank you very much for your quick reply Betta'sAnonymous . Ok, I did dose for the entire tank the first time.
Do you use just the regular dose of 5ml per 10gal? Should I stick with this, or should I be doing the double dose?
Hello again! Sorry but I have more questions. Hope you can all help. Thank you!
I've been doing the daily 25% water changes with Stress Coat. I don't know if I was doing it right though. I've been adding the Stress Coat for the 25% of water that I've been changing out. Was I supposed to be...
Thank you awilkinson871 ! I have Azoo Triple Blackwater. I don't know if it works like IALs (since it also has almond leaf extract). But I can definitely go outside tom to see if there are dried fallen leaves I can pick up and clean.
I bought mine early last year. Its expiry date is this August. I hardly used it too. But the shop didn't have any bottles with a later expiry date. Shop owner said though that I should store it in a cool, dark place, and it should still be good to use beyond the expiry date if the smell, color...
Thank you very much for your reply, Betta'sAnonymous . Do you think 25% water changes would be ok? Or should I be doing as much as 50%?
I did put Stress Coat today. I usually use Prime when I add new water. Should I switch it out for Stress Coat for now, or would it be ok to still use Prime...
I would like to ask for help or advice on how to deal with fin rot in a betta fish.
5 gallon, filtered (1 HOB & 1 sponge filter)
Nitrates: 10ppm (did a partial water change, have to check nitrates again)
Lightly planted: jungle val...
Thank you very much MacZ for sharing this link and information. I have just read it...scary. I do also have aquarium salt, Epsom salt, and methylene blue on hand. I just thought I would add some antibiotics to my stock of meds in case of an emergency. I will be cautious about them. And will...
Again, thank you for the information. I ordered Paraguard, erythromycin, and 3 Furan sachets to keep on hand just in case of anything. When I pulled out the Furan, one of the packets was torn and spilled a little powder on the floor. It worried me because I have a 4 year old and a cat too. I...
Thank you both for your replies! So the chemicals won't kill the plants?
Any tips for working in a small condo unit where the bathroom doesn't have a window?
How about in the case of furan, where it's in powder form? Will it also suffice to rinse off any powder with soap and water?
Sorry, I wasn't sure what thread to post this under.
I was just wondering how safe or unsafe fish meds are. How safe is it to handle meds like Furan and malachite green? And even the water test kits? And how do you all dispose of the water with the meds/chemicals after use? Just...
Thank you, mattgirl!
I did have this thought recently that the Prime I was adding probably has no effect in the tank anymore since the stock water sits for at least 3 days. I guess I can remedy this by adding the Prime as I do the water change or directly to my tank?
I do prefer to let my...
I see, ok. Thank you!
Just tested my source water / stock water. 0 nitrates there.. Attached tests from tank and source. It's a relief to know that the nitrates really are coming from my tank. I'll be checking everyday again for now.
Thank you, Kallililly1973 and Sorg67!
Thank you all for your replies. When I was cycling, I was really getting 0 nitrates even with my usual stock water. But I will definitely test my source water now that you all mentioned. I do hope that the cycle is ok. I am worried about doing fish in cycling and harming my guppy. I will do as...
Hi sorry I didn't write down the other details.
It's a 3 gallon planted tank, with 1 male guppy and 4 ramshorn snails. HOB filter with max flow rate of 120 L/hour, I'm not using the strongest setting. First set up the tank in March. Then received and put in the guppy end of April.
Yes, I use...
It's my first time properly cycling a tank... Or so i thought. My guppy seemed more restless than usual, so i decided to check the water parameters. Is it possible to have ammonia at between 0 and 0.25ppm, 0 nitrites, and 5ppm nitrates?
I'm not sure how to go about correcting this as...
