    PH Problems (too high)

Hey everyone! So recently I have been struggling with my pH. It’s been a bit too high, currently at 7.6 and the high range is 8.2. I have a 20 gallon high freshwater aquarium with a spiny eel, 3 kuhli loaches, 1 glass catfish, and 2 nerite snails. All of these fish I have had for a while...

    Bloated Eel?

Thank you for responding! No fish have ever gone missing - they are all too big for him and he’s very gentle and sweet, so it would be very unexpected behavior from him. I just assumed it’s a male however I could be wrong. I don’t have much knowledge on these little guys ):

    Bloated Eel?

Hello everyone, I started to notice that my eel started to look a little fat, however I wanted some second opinions on this. I have also heard that some females usually get a little fat however I don’t know if my eel is a male of female - can anyone tell? I have actually had a few problems...

    Dwarf gourami compatibility

My sisters betta has been sick for maybe a month now. We honestly don't know what's wrong. I think she has posted on here asking about it, but I don't know if she got a good response. He just seems to have lost interest in swimming and is always lying down on his side. He may have some sort of...

    Dwarf gourami compatibility

If I was to go through with this plan, I would get the guppies first and make sure they are all settled in before I introduce another new fish. Also when I introduce the new Gourami I would make sure it would be the last fish I would buy, so when I first put it into the tank it realizes its the...

    Dwarf gourami compatibility

My sister has a sick betta in a 10 gallon that I could maybe use if the betta doesn't make it in case something goes wrong with the dwarf gourami. I would then think of a long term solution for him/her. Spiny eels usually get around 5.9 inches maybe a little bigger. Mine is almost if not at 6...

    Dwarf gourami compatibility

Do you mean re-home the gold gourami? She has always been a bit of a bully and steals everyones food as well, so the eel doesn't get as much food as he should, that's why I was considering re-homing her.

    Dwarf gourami compatibility

My eel is maybe about 5 ½ to 6 inches, so nearing his full size. However I have never ever seen him show any interest in the guppies as he is usually buried underneath the gravel and he is very shy. They are all also way too big for him to try and get and I haven't had any baby guppies before...

    Dwarf gourami compatibility

Hey everyone, so I am thinking about redoing my 20 gallon, which currently has 3 Kuhli Loaches, 2 guppies, a spiny eel, 1 gold gourami, 2 nerite snails and 1 glass catfish. I am going to re-home the gold Gourami as she is very territorial and won't let in new fish, and I'm also going to...

    Feeding Nerite snails

How much and how often should I feed them? If they don't finish it should I remove it from the tank or just leave it in there?

    Feeding Nerite snails

I didn't know that snails eat seaweed. Would the other fish go for it as well?

Some advice for stocking 20 gallon with already existing fish

Here is what I have thought about doing. I think I am going to keep the eel and the 3 Kuhli loaches, re-home the gold gourami and catfish, add maybe 4 more guppies and get a dwarf Gourami. Would a dwarf gourami be a good idea and is it compatible with the fish I was thinking about keeping? I...

Some advice for stocking 20 gallon with already existing fish

My gourami is a plain gold Gourami, and I have noticed she is quite rough with new comers. I used to have 6 catfish when I first started however as you said they were probably stressed and passed away one by one. I tried to get some more but no stores had them in stock. I could get more kuhli...

Some advice for stocking 20 gallon with already existing fish

Something to add - my sister has a betta in a 10 gallon tank that isn't doing to well, so if he passes away (I hope not), but if he does I could potentially use her tank to keep the gourami in, but it may be too small for her.

Some advice for stocking 20 gallon with already existing fish

Hello everybody! I need some advice on my 20 gallon aquarium as I am stuck on what to do next. I have been procrastinating doing this post as I am nervous for what people are going to say. Im afraid there is quite a bit of information but I like to write everything down so its easier for you to...

    Feeding Nerite snails

Thank you for your advice! I think I'll go with the algae wafers and I'll make sure its plant based.

    Feeding Nerite snails

I bought 2 nerite snails a few weeks ago to help with my algae problem. They did an amazing job, but I now am wondering what they are eating as there isn't much algae left on the glass and ornaments anymore. What do you recommend I feed them? Algae wafers or any other foods? Thanks!

Help! 0.50 PPM Ammonia in Tank! (Fish In Cycle)

I guess it could still be cycling. As RomanNoodles said, that's the process of cycling a tank. Sometimes your water levels goes up or down, adding stability should help the process.

Help! 0.50 PPM Ammonia in Tank! (Fish In Cycle)

Is your tank cycled? Also how long have you had it for? Stability helps with the cycling and helps get the tank started by rapidly and safely establishing the bio filter. It also prevents new tank syndrome. It may not help but if you just started your tank you may want to consider adding it. Its...
