Wondering what you guys think could be the reason for 1 Corydoras out of 14 to be looking like this?
Can't say how long it's been like this, just noticed it.
Could it be from digging up next to the dragon stone or would it be bacterial?
If it's bacterial, looking through my storage, I have API...
Sold the 225 Gallon Tank and decided to keep an 11.5 Gallon Shrimp tank lol
Wondering if it's large enough to keep a school of Celestial Pearl Danio, I know online it says 10 Gallons is the minimum but is that a fair enough size? Not a big fan of small tanks for this exact reason.
Yeah absolutely brutal, just money down the drain as well. Tank is so empty now.
Had a separate tank that had a Discus pair which I sold a few days ago, so I threw them in there for now.
I'll have to double check the parameters again but when I first noticed the ick I checked and everything...
My 225 Gallon experienced some severe Ick a little over a week ago.
- A Week of ~88F temperatures
- 3 days of using Weco Nox-Ich Water Treatment (It treat Ick, and also kills Velvet, Fin Rot, Chilondonella, Trichondina)
- 100 Cardinal Tetras Dead
- 96 out of 100 RummyNose...
Thanks everyone for the responses, very helpful.
Ended up speaking with the Supplier, he admitted that he wasn't too fond of the shape of the RummyNose he sold me and that they were wild caught so they may have been carrying something else?
From what I am seeing, the Cardinals and Rummy...
I am now dealing with Fish Ick again after everything was going good for so long, didn't quarantine fish from a seller who I've never had issues with in the past.
Now in the past I've always done the heating method, 2 Weeks at 88F, vacuuming substrate every 2-3 days, and water changes. Have...
I'm going to go see if I can find them in person, I feel like they're the type of fish that can only be appreciated in person, cause I could imagine they'd look awesome in a large group.
Yeah it was tough to let them go, but I think it was what was best. Because the size of the tank I kept...
Thanks for the reply, I actually have 50 Cardinals in there at the moment, probably just missed that. I didn't know how much I liked Cardinals until I seen 50 of them together. I'd put another 50 in there any day.
In regards to the Betta, yeah I made sure for 2 weeks straight...
Currently have a 225 Gallon with the following stock:
Journal link is below.
50 x RummyNose
50 x Cardinals
10 x Denison Barbs/Roseline Sharks (Just got them, they look amazing swimming)
10 x SterbaI Cories

5 x Different kinds of bristlenose Plecos
1 x Betta
1 x Rainbow Shark...
The Gyres are on a strict timer, only come on 3 times a day for 3 mins. Just use them to throw up any extra debris. I found them, even at low power they were a bit too much for the fish and the Discus weren't fans either. The one on the right is now turned off as well, the female Loves to lay...
Tanks is up and running now, need to invest in an actual camera, the pictures are coming out horrible.
Big issue right now are the plants, with the initial build, the plants were in colder waters a few months before the Discus arrived so they established strong roots and were doing just fine...
Had a question regarding left over food.
How long does left over food take to produce ammonia?
With the introduction of Discus in the community tank I've been feeding twice a day and the issue is a lot of floating food ends up in the overflow box caught in the strainer or in the sump sitting on...
Decided I just wasn't happy with the tank, not enough going on for my liking. So I did the crazy and took it all down. Was a complete disaster initially, lot of yelling involved haha.
But I think it was all worth it in the end.
Not the cleanest pictures, still have some tidying up to do...
Actually came from Vietnam, sorry thought I responded when I initially saw your comment.
Was a bit worried at first but very happy with them, they looked real strong and healthy so I took the chance and have no regrets.
Stupid me decided I wasn't happy with the look of my 225, just not enough going. So I decided to take down 1 of the mountains down and replace it with a large piece of driftwood. Of course it floated.
Long story short, tried a bunch of methods and completely destroyed all the plants and the...
They actually came from Vietnam, a coworker said he had some family there, long story short, they ended up sending him about 20 and I picked up 6 from him. I am actually very impressed. Initially, the plan was to go German.
Purchased 6 for now, they have eaten twice so far and seem to be doing well. I didn't want to overcrowd the tank as I am still waiting for the other fish to arrive.
Here is the link to the build with new pictures on the last page.
225 Gallon Planted Tank Build
Just some updated pictures and some new friends.
50 x Cardinals
20 x RummyNose
10 x Ottos
5 x Nerite Snails
6 x Discus
Still an empty tank, waiting on the shipment for the remaining fish, but the Discus have arrived and they are doing well.
Just an update, I guess I was wrong about the tap water, they changed a lot this past spring and actually have the pH at a steady 7.6, haven't checked since shutting down the 125, so the rock is raising it about 0.2. So I went out, bought a new pH test kit and have been paying close attention...
The stone is Seiryu, unfortunately I can't remove it, it's kind of the centre piece of the tank, 100lbs.
I think I can confidently say it's a stable pH, been this high for almost 2 months.
Water quality I am also very confident, about 90 Gallon water change per week, very good filtration...
