20 Gallon Tank Nerite snails vs Ottocinclus? What to feed after they have cleaned glass algae

Nerite snail are more efficient and can't reproduce in freshwater. Mystery snails are larger and if you get a female they can reproduce like rabbits if you want a lot of baby mystery snails.

20 Gallon Tank Nerite snails vs Ottocinclus? What to feed after they have cleaned glass algae

otto really should be in a group; 6 min but 10 or 20 works better. However, a single nerite or even 2 are fine. The only real negative of nerite snails is if you end up with a female it will litter your glass with white dots. otto will eat flake food; soilent green; zuc; while people associate...

What's the next fish you're getting?

Yea but most of those fishes are mean. I remember snorkeling in the virigin islands; and none of those fishes bit me; actually they spend all day begging for fish cookies.

    Worrying about my scarlet badis

The general rule is live food; but over time you might be able to entice them with frozen; it is very rare they will eat dry.

So which apistos are more/least aggressive?

panduro are the same complex to nijjensi so i presume they are similar behavior. Don't know about macmasteri. Also if you want your apisto to breed and raise frys then you either need white water fishes (cockatoo and borelli are examples) or ro water (unless you have very very soft tap water)...

So which apistos are more/least aggressive?

Nijjensi are suppose to be very territorial so that would make them aggressive if you wander into their territory. borelli have a loud bark but do not appear to be that aggressive. hongsloi are not docile but not as bad as nijjensi (imho). my cockatoo males were gentle but the females have a...

    Restarting tank that had Duckweed

While it sounds like you have solved your problem; it took me about a month to get rid of all the duckweed in my 40B. It was a hi-tech aquarium and small pieces would repopulated. One thing I found that helps in the removal of duckweed is strong surface current.

Plecos to breed for profit (not BN)

I meant to comment on this thread. There are pleco that sell for $100-$400 range but they are more difficult to breed. If you are up to a real challenge there are L397 (for example) or L46. There are also easier to breed species like Leopard frog or Blue Phantom that sell more than most...

29 Gallon Tank Angel fish size question

Yea I didn't want to say so but i also noted such. ReneaJordan what we are saying is that the marble is likely a runt. One of the sure sign of such are abnormally large eyes.

40 Gallon Tank 40b planted stocking idea

40 Gallon Tank 40b planted stocking idea

You could try borelli apistogramma though there might be some conflict with the peacock. The borelli is a better option than cockatoo if you want to go with apistogramma.

29 Gallon Tank Angel fish size question

It is hard to tell from the picture but a few comments: First females are usually significantly smaller than males. There is a wide variance in size of both males and females but a small female with a large male she will be about 1/2 to 2/3 the size. Of course a large female with a small male...

    29 Gallon Tank Different apistos

It depends on the aquarium size and structure and if you intend to have just males or males and females. Both of the species you mentioned can be a bit aggressive relative to some more passive apistogramma and if you intend to have pairs or harem then things might be messy unless your aquarium...

Best way to transfer fish from 90 gallon to 120 gallon?

I usually just stick them in a series of 5 gallon buckets; if they will be there more than 4 or 5 hours I put in a sponge filter from one of my existing aquariums. Oh it helps if you don't feed them the day before. I've kept fishes in 5 gallon buckets for months when needed; but of course it...

What's the next fish you're getting?

Sadly another 50 or so lemon blue eye pleco. Tried to take a picture but just can't get the phone to focus on the inside of my pleco's cave. This is in a community aquarium but no one seems to care that all these little pleco are running around everywhere.

Angels acting like devils (I know..very characteristic)

Answer like thrive are hard to answer; many people insist that angels have to be in a group to 'thrive' though given the violence i wonder how that is thriving. As to being together and splitting - i'm not sure that specifically will have an adverse impact. I just don't believe fishes work that...

Angels acting like devils (I know..very characteristic)

Mine are quite passive towards tank mates when breeding. Yes they guard the eggs and ward off intruders but the area is small and level of hostility controlled. This is not by accident. I had a pair that was far more aggressive that I removed. The ones I have are also very good parents able to...

My guess; and it is only a guess; the silver is a male and the gold is a female and they have decided to become a couple. Congrats.

    Instead of corydoras

zebra loaches are good - 10 or 15 of those; dwarf loaches are nice - maybe 20; kuhli 10 or 20; could try a different species of cory - there are 100's and they have very different personalities. There are other cats like whip tail; upside down cats; and well everyone has a favorite kitten.
