Two New Betta's and a very angry husband

Husband and I are quitting on Monday. I only really have 1/2 cigarette per day - after my evening meal, which is ridiculous. Such a nasty habit and so addictive. I am playing with fire as I used to be a heavy smoker for years, and quit totally 6 years ago. My husband smokes a lot more too, so I...

    survival tip for panda corys

Well I agree with you. I think it's a stretch, but I'll argue here for argument's sake (meaning there's the teenest tiniest possibility that it's completely true):

It's true, plecos love their cucumbers!

Oh, how coooool! I am really glad for you. It's great when they finally take interest, isn't it? Sounds like he certainly has had a FEAST on that cucumber.

Hamster maze for fish to swim in?

he he he. How this conversation always comes back to black pudding (that's what it's called in the UK). 'blood pudding' really, well, does what it says on the tin, .

Our new hog-nose puffer is in trouble

Hey, thanks for the concern, Augie! He's doing great, actually. No thanks to our heaters that went crazy on us twice now, in that same tank. He really gave us a horrible fright. We were sure we'd loose him. I am amazed at his recovery. That sort of stuff gives me hope when other fish get sick.

    survival tip for panda corys

I think there might be some truth to it. Why not, hey? It's not like they would be the only animal using alarm pheromones when stressed. Gazillions do it. It would be surprising that nothing's come up in my internet searches, and that other corys don't have this, but it wouldn't be the most...

    survival tip for panda corys

HI everyone. I was at a fish/aquarium fair yesterday, and talked to a cory breeder about the trouble I'm having keeping panda corys alive for more than a few weeks. He told me that panda corys, when stressed, release an alarm substance which is actually poisonous to them in high...

    Too fat kuhli loaches?

Yeah, it was a bit disappointing. We were getting ready to nurse a whole bunch of the cutest fish on earth. Ah well..

Two New Betta's and a very angry husband

he he he. Isn't it great when they finally warm up to the many 'illegal fishigrants' we keep sneaking in the house? My husband's only once been quite annoyed with me on the fish business: I'd sneaked in a lovely cambodian female and the 25L tank to go with it!

    Too fat kuhli loaches?

Actually nothing, nada, zero. And they're still really fat. I guess overweight it was, hey.

    Early fish keeping mistakes

I might add a note of caution with copper and bottom dwelling fish too. They are very exposed to stagnating copper pockets from their burrowing habits.

Help me put a stop to fish tattooeing

Great idea about the local fish clubs. Here's an updated template for possible re-use, integrating your ideas: Dear sir/madam I am a regular customer at your shop in ***, and have always been impressed by your specialist products, and aquarium choices. I was quite surprised therefore...

Help me put a stop to fish tattooeing

Oh no, no, nothing like that. It's just that I know I myself don't always have time to get around these mini-campaigning protests I always tell myself I should do. But on the other hand, I am a great believer in every little helps, and let's try to make the world a better place even by just...

Help me put a stop to fish tattooeing

HI guys and gals I've just written this letter to my local fish store. I thought it might be useful if you'd like to do the same to your own local fish stores if they trade in tattooed fish. Here it is. Feel free to copy/paste the applicable bits if you don't have the time to write one of...

    Alone again...naturally...warning bigtime rant follows....

Ooooops. Sorry, Stace, erm, I mean, Dave! I have always confused these two names. Apologise to her for me, will you?

    Ouch! My finger hurts!

Yep, you're definitely more like my mom, then. She can't believe what a bunch of girlie girls my dad and I are. She gives herself some quite impressive injuries, and she STILL has to take care of us because we've fainted seeing her wounds, instead of calling the doc! I really think that the...

    Rest in Peace, little Saytang

Thanks you guys. We've had a little funeral today. I can't believe how much I sobbed. Incredible how attached I got. I was trying to avoid getting down about it, but some things are just unavoidable. I just need to remember the nice things when I think of her. It is making me seriously...

    Rest in Peace, little Saytang

Thanks, you guys. I was going to let it slide, but it just felt wrong, so I've written this memorial which, sure enough, got the tears flooding. So I went to make her a little coffin and drew on it the things she liked. I'll wait for my husband to get back tonight and we'll have a little...

    Alone again...naturally...warning bigtime rant follows....

Am sure Tracy does her fair share, hey, Dave. Otherwise, feel free to have a rant! ; ) Seriously, though. It goes to show you don't treat her like your maid servant and driver, but like your equal.
