How do I quarantine Cardinal tetras?

Been thinking about getting some Cardinal tetras (or rummynose.. I keep flip flopping between the two ). After learning a valuable lesson (the hard way) about the importance of a quarantine tank, I was wondering how I could do this without stressing them out too much since I've heard they're...

    Persistent betta fish fin rot

Oh and also, make sure any decorations in his tank aren't sharp in any way. I had this plastic plant which was pretty flexible, but it did have almost like a spiky fan appearance on each of the leaves. He loved that plant and would always lie on it but one day I found a piece of his fin caught...

    Persistent betta fish fin rot

Have you noticed the fin rot progressing towards his body? Or does it just seem to be an area of disappeared fin that doesn't get any better or worse? Around June I left on vacation and came back to find my betta's tail to be noticeably shorter. I thought it was fin rot but from what I had read...

Just a story of my rocky/rewarding first timer experience :)

Sorry to hear that The Petco guy warned me not to.. but he also told me that a Nerite snail is another name for an assassin snail so I chose to ignore anything else he said haha

Oh shucks, you're too kind thank you I will definitely be doing that. I had a leaf hammock for him once that he loved. Just look at him tanning haha But unfortunately the wire in it started rusting and I had to get rid of it :/

    Ick is Icky

Thank you for asking! They're doing swimmingly ;D There's been no more ick on any of my other fish and the swordtails ick has cleared up entirely. Unfortunately, one of the three fry that I had in the net breeder in the main tank died I'm not sure if it was the ick or if it was a defect in the...

Just a story of my rocky/rewarding first timer experience :)

So this is more story time than anything else ;D Almost a year ago I was in my biology lab class and we started doing a lab that involved observing Bettas for their behavior. I started feeling a bit nostalgic because when I was around 4 or 5 I had this Betta named Rainbow. (Now as I think more...

White Spots but I don't think it's Ick..

Well I was going off the swordtail profile that they have on Fishlore, but of course the bigger the tank, the happier and healthier the fish will be I ended up moving them back into the main 20 gallon tank because I figured that if it was any remains of the ick then that tank would be better to...

White Spots but I don't think it's Ick..

They were living in a 20 gallon long but I had temporarily moved them into a 5 gallon when I saw they had what appeared to be, and indeed was, ick. I moved them because I had fry in the main tank in a net breeder and was concerned that treating the tank (I used Quick Cure to treat the...

White Spots but I don't think it's Ick..

I managed to get pictures of it they look almost transparent when they're not in the light. I'm not sure if it isn't ick, but it doesn't look like the ick he had on his body or tail, these spots look much bigger. And all the ick that was on his body and tail have come off. Theres no gravel in...

White Spots but I don't think it's Ick..

My male and female Swordtails recently had ick and I have been treating them with Quick Cure and doing water changes for about a week now. The ick seems to have gone away, they had a bunch of small white grains on them and now they have none. However, my male swordtail has 4 white dots on each...

Can different aged fry get along?

Right now I have the older fry in a net breeder in the main tank. The younger fry I have in a Kritter Keeper. Haven't wanted to put the younger ones in the net breeder yet because they still have their yolk sacs. I know the older ones wouldn't be able to gobble them up in one bite since I'm...

Can different aged fry get along?

My swordtail gave birth to three fry 10 days ago and now she gave birth to a whole bunch more. Would it be safe to mix the older fry with these new fry?

Not sure what's growing on my net breeder

That had crossed my mind... but they were so thin and fluffy.. never seen any root hairs like that. But being as paranoid as I am, I moved the fry so I could clean the net and did a water change because well.. why not ;D

Not sure what's growing on my net breeder

So about a week ago my swordtail gave birth to three fry and I had them in a small little container with an Anacharis until I could buy a net breeder. I moved them over to the net breeder in my main tank and it came with some plastic plants but I threw in the Anacharis because they seemed to...
