A weekly 50% water change should do the trick. One Betta won't produce much waste. Do watch out for overfeeding, they need much less food than one thinks. I feed mine 3 or 4 Tetra Betta pellets a day (very small pellets).
I'd read about the WCs and the feeding, but did not know they had parasites. Need to do some more research on that, thanks.
