What kind of filter do you have? I had a small Tetra Whisper filter on the 10 gallon kit I bought and for a while, I just dumped the carbon and ran the filter with the frame and nothing inside. It worked for a while, but after a few months it got REALLY nasty and impeded the flow. I could've...
Definitely not glut based. OMG @Vishaquatics (Koiman) !! I'm the guy trying to get the Dwarf Sag from you on AquaSwap! (myt_jc) AHAHAHAHAHA I just PM'ed you there a little while ago.
I've got BDSB for my substrate... it sucks vacuuming it. Would it help if I just bought some Dwarf Sag and planted it? If not, I'm sure I can sift them out. It'll be a pain, but it can be done. LOL
I didn't even think it could be the Osmocote! I placed way more Vals in there when I got them and I placed additional Osmocote. I bet from all the pulling up and substrate disturbances by the cories stirred stuff up!
I'm not using the Flourish Excel, just the plain old Flourish. But I've been...
Hey everyone! So I’ve recently upgraded my 28g bowfront. I added a piece of driftwood (needed 2 rocks to hold it down until it waterlogs) and also changed my lighting to 2 65w CFL bulbs. I upgraded my bulbs because I thought the Vals needed some more light. They’ve bounced back a little bit...
You got this @Katiesue !! I ran through issues myself. It REALLY makes things frustrating when you see folks posting pics of their setups that they just filled it with bottles of Deer Park! LOL Just be patient and realize there isn't going to be an overnight fix. It's a gradual process, so be...
I just got one too! As @Cichlidude mentioned, it's an extension tube not just a spare. It looks a little weird because you see the strainer halfway up the intake but it works fine. Awesome filter too!
I run purigen(AC70) and Chemi-Pure(AC30) in my tank that I just put Driftwood in. Granted, I boiled my driftwood first, but I haven't seen any discoloration. Chemi-Pure says it removes tannins too. So I'd say give the Chemi-pure green a shot and see how that goes as it's meant for planted tanks.
Sooo... I tried my hardest to find something that I liked that wasn't hideous or terrible looking. I thought I was going to go with the floor lamp idea, but some of the prices made my budget lighting not so budget. So I went with these: Weird thing about them is that they're rated for a 40w...
Ahhhhh yesssss!!! Thanks @kallililly1973 !!! I'll take some measurements to see if it'll work. But it looks very promising! If it doesn't that socket adapter will surely work with the single goosneck lamps. I'm so excited!
Yeah I was trying to locate one of those as well, but I couldn't find it. I'm going to keep searching though. I've seen some with the vertical light and then the reading light, but not 2 goosenecks. But you've given me hope! LOL
@kallililly1973 I wish I did. A couple of them old clamp desk lamps that were a dime a dozen back in the 80's and 90's would be awesome! That's the top of the stairs so I gotta be careful to make sure whatever I do, the kids won't bang into it running up and down the steps. I'm really leaning...
Alright so I finally got the bulbs! Wohooo! I went with these: Now my pickle is how to mount the lights. They run @ 23 watts, do you think that the heat from the bulb will melt the plastic divider of the glass top? I tried to clamp it to the tank, but it's a terrible angle and wasting so...
I went to Lowe's but I could only find regular bulbs with a Max of 5000K. Uggghhhh I'm gonna keep looking around to see what I can find.
When you say plant light, can you show me an example of what you're referring to?
Gotcha! I've got a decent Perfecto glass so hopefully it'll hold the shop light fine. If things perk up, I'll work something up a little prettier and more permanent.
Yeah I already had issues with the melt, I had to cut a lot back about a week after I got them. But they've been slow rebounding. Some of it might be the cories digging them up, but the last ones I have in there seem to be holding welt in my BDBS. I've been dosing Flourish at 3ml 2x/week and...
Yeah I'll definitely be going with LED. I wish Marineland would just post what their Kelvins rating is on the light that I have. I'm going to do some research and see if I can find out to be sure and go from there. My tank is only 2 ft long and it doesn't look like I have a ton of options for...
