Ok! Since two female platy already resided with “inherited” adult silver dollars “Betty and George”, One suggested, add a few more females platy=6.
Seemed to be good at first but this old couple is still jumpy. Would rehoming platy and getting true schooling fish help? Platy poop a lot!
Thanks everyone: All those possibilities are just simply put sucking my joy out of the tank.
Ph is stable all this week 7.6. Aside from his ick; Is it possible to acclimate old George to the 1/2 tap and 1/2 RO?
Hate to see him suffer but it seems more harmful trying all these suggestions with no...
So, from all the Flack for me using ro water, plus the hassle and time it takes to get enough for water changes, used my tap water with Prime. Three days later, white spots on George’s tail fin( silver dollar). Now | tried tap a few months ago and same thing happened and to same fish.
No. Never used a water machine from stores before. Water was really warm too?!? It was a first time to save time. Actually, cost my whole **** morning.!
Yes, my ph is on low side with RO. I’m ok with consistent ph. We have great system in house that’s maintained. Puts out 3gl per hr.
On the back of Prime is says for ER cases increase to 5 times the normal 2 drop dose.
Where I’m confused is when Glasier water was tested
Nitrites .50 -1. And nitrates 20ppm ish.
Both of which are much higher than my current tank water. Did not use this water because the parameters seem too...
ugh! Went to a Glacier water machine for 10gl of water. Came home. Tested Master api. Extra high Nitates and nitrites. Got out my prime. One dose no difference. Max is 5x for extreme. This water is extreme. Dosed 4x to be safe. Very little to no change. Suggestions?
Says it RO type water...
Possible to have snails with consistent lower ph 7-7.4. not sure of hardness. RO is my primary water supply. Note on ro water: Please don’t give grief, it keeps my perimeters stable . My tap is bad!
So, with that said I’d love to get a couple snails. My son likes the mystery snails and rams...
Wow! That’s what I’m looking for. Lush green beautiful plant life.
Thank you for sharing. I️ always come back to this forum. Love it and all the wisdom it provides.
Well, here is my finished 30gl beauty! Pothos trimmings in hob. Fish hiding (as usual) but I’m happy!
Here is Bettey...
I’d like to see pics please. Thanks for the tips. I know roots only. It looks pretty with the plant growing all around a tank.
I added 8 female platies. Multi colored. Very pretty and active. They are not dithers but I think my 2 silver dollars “Betty and Geroge “ are happier with more tank...
My silvers destroy live plants but I thought the pothos roots might help the water.
I’m so new at this and the information on web is over whelming.
My only goal is to have harmony in my tan, with some pretty greens too.
If a LFS has high ammonia and nitrates will that effect my tank by adding their fish? Adding fish after I acclimate to my water over two hour period, and not adding the water.
Their Ph is on low side 6.8.. Mine is -around 7.6
How safe is it to put live patho plants in tank with platys and large silver dollars. I have fake plastic but would like to know if pathos have ability to keep tank healthier?
Alsoi have added all female platies to tank in hopes to calm the silvers?!?!
