Lps Changes How They Keep Betta Fish - Yay!!

If it makes you guys feel better, I've only ever seen one store in australia that kept them in bowls, and even then their area was heated to the right temperature and the water was changed daily. And the bowl were twice the size of the walmart photos I've seen!

    Changing Substrate From Gravel

Sadly I'm in Australia. We def get ADA here though, I've seen it at multiple lfs. Would it be possible to stick the ADA in a bucket with a heater and filter until the ammonia spike has passed?

    Changing Substrate From Gravel

I currently have gravel in the bottom of my tank, and I've noticed it's been scratching up my betta (as in I saw this happen, I originally thought a piece of driftwood was the issue) so I'm thinking of changing substrates. I already have a ton of java fern, brazilian pennywort and java moss in...

    New Male Betta, Please Help!!!

Yeah, I got the airstone just in case the weird slime was actually bacteria sucking up the oxygen and so he doesn't have to swim up to the surface as often, it probably won't be in there permanently (it's pretty noisy!)

    New Male Betta, Please Help!!!

Thanks for the recommendations! I am using a bacteria booster, but I'm still testing my water every couple of days just to keep on top of things, and the ammonia is at 0. My unnamed boy is doing a lot better now! Still got clamped fins and a bit lethargic, but he's swimming around in between...

    New Male Betta, Please Help!!!

Day after removing the slime he seems to be improving a bit! Still not great, but I’m hopeful. Tomorrow is the last day of the three day fast trick for swim bladder issues, so I’ll try the pea after that.

    New Male Betta, Please Help!!!

Came home to him gasping at the top of the tank vertical in the water! Way more lethargic. And the snot-like slimey bacteria on the wood and plants has multiplied HEAPS, I'm taking the driftwood and plants out completely and doing a 75% water change because I'm worried the bacteria are taking...

    New Male Betta, Please Help!!!

Thanks! That does make me feel better. I'm still not entirely convinced it isn't a swim bladder problem, he seems to be dropping a bit faster today. Still active though. I'll make a baffle for the filter out of a clean sponge or stocking or something tonight and fast him for 3 days just to be...

    New Male Betta, Please Help!!!

Tank Water volume of the tank: 45 litres (roughly 11.9 gallons) Does it have a filter: Yes, but it's on the lowest setting and I think it's still slightly to much. There are areas with very low flow where he isn't disturbed too much though. Does it have a heater? Yep! What is the water...
