Did some big things this weekend. We lovingly said goodbye to the freshwater hobby. It's been a great 8 year run. 4 tanks has just been too much to juggle with college, work, and externships.
The 40 gallon is currently in the rockscape phase. Trying many different options of course, however...
We have a nem but they don't seem to care about it silly clowns. Its hard to picture them not being tiny some day! But I could absolutely see cheeks being that bold.
Also a general update and photo drop:
Our nem has been throwing a tantrum, turns out we may have had a ph drop (we used to...
Thank you @Culprit, i think we're doing it
Thank you My clowns are my weakness I just wish I could do more than one pair I want them all
Cheeks here thinks she's the boss lady of the tank AND the house. A nippy brat but i ♡ her. Good thing she's stuck in a tank
Thanks for taking the time to guide a newbie @Culprit
I forgot to mention we also use this stuff as needed... thoughts?
Investing in another AI is great anyway because we could always use them for either the future tank or whatever else we dream up We just have the default contents plus some...
That right! I just couldn't remember, from what I've seen it should add a nice pop of color and texture
Thank you it's hard not to add another clam but I know I shouldn't
It is an AI prime, for the 40 would you add another?? It would still just be run off a canister like this one :/...
We switched to a canister, upgraded our lights and went to "reef worx" and picked up a fungia, a headless horseman acan echinada, and the pink coral pictured below...i forgot the name
The blasto made a full come back, gaining lots of color back. Which I'm pretty excited about...
We have a 125 we have been considering converting to a saltwater tank. What would be the best way to go about this and what would be the must have equipment? All opinions welcome!
We have one already from petsmart and would ideally not spend 1000+ to buy a new tank/ stand
School has been kicking my BUTT gearing up for the first round of clinicals, here's an update!
All is well currently!
Added a new light about a month ago, started switching to RO/DI yesterday.
Rehomed a pistol shrimp who turned out to be a murderous JERK.
I think it couldn't hurt to try one, i just think it would be both interesting and adorable to watch them together.
I'm still in the research phase for the lettuce but they are just SO cute!! When people talk about covering power heads do they mean the sponge piece that comes with the power...
Thanks everyone! This urchin is my current favorite after the clowns. It's always travelling all over cleaning and munching as it goes.
My large emerald crab is doing great now, very active! I know 1/3 of the smaller emeralds is doing fine but I haven't seen the other two for awhile so time...
We had a fiasco with our marineland filters that caused a die off.
We're down to:
1 red tail shark
1 green phantom pleco
6 rainbow fish
And two barbs
Any suggestions for adds?
We will probably take the two barbs back.
He sure loves his picture taken it cracks me up any time the cameras out the ram comes up and anytime hands are in the tank the honey gourami has to come say hello
Ive been following your apistos breeding too btw!
Little crab either passed or molted... time will tell
Big crab finally started traveling around the tank and picking at algae so that's good!!
Started noticing the appearance of feather dusters and what has been ID as a ball anemone.
We're itching to add something new to the tank but haven't...
That's what i expected them to do but they don't seem to move much even at night and only mouth movement during the day.
My shrimp didn't move either... do you think they have what he has? Ive only really seen them eat if algae floated in front of thier face.....
Fish are active...
Thanks for the reply! I ♡ Cheeks my bf calls her spot lol.
The shrimp had black specs which was apparently bacteria? I'm not sure, the pom pom crab is doing great moves around at night to find the perfect spot. The emeralds dont move much/far. There was plenty of algae but it was getting out...
Picked up some new life! Coral/invert qt is not currently realistic for us but we picked from trustworthy sources and dipped our corals. As you all know much prettier in person than pictures.
Also trying out another aquascape... don't love it yet but with more corals/grow out... but it may get...
White still won't eat. I tried this time with frozen mysis as advised above. He seems excited that food is added, goes up like he's gonna eat but doesnt open his mouth.
I even tried with the filter off as to not add flow.
Orange ate plenty.
