Question Zebra Danios - Is This Spawning Behaviour?

So after feeding this morning... I noticed my wife's tank going 'a little crazy'. So after watching for a few minutes, I recorded this. I'm guessing this is spawning and the yellow/gold tinged ones are the crazy males and the silver tinged ones are the females. Spawning? I'm also guessing...

Help Ph Shifted From 7.0 To 7.6

Ok. Roughly 12 hours later, both tanks were at 7.4. And... so was the tap water. Tap water TDS is at 40, so pretty much the same. Interesting that the tanks dropped 0.2 overnight. Will check again in 12 hours to see how the tap water and tank water is doing, but at least at this stage...

Help Ph Shifted From 7.0 To 7.6

Hi there, So I went away for a month, and had a friend that used to have aquariums do my water changes and feed the fish. During that time, it was summer, and the water temp has gone up... one day it went to nearly 30C! :| He did a great job keeping everything alive (I think some black...

Went Away For A Month, Came Back To This Growing On The Surface

Thanks. Does it spread via tiny little leaves that float on the surface? Cause I've been removing those ever since they appeared, but during that month they coated nearly the whole surface of the tank. [Edit: Found out the second one is Duckweed] -G

Anyone know what it is? It's clumpy... We have Java Moss and Moss balls in the tank, but this doesn't look the same. Is it bad? Should I toss it?

    Kuli Loach Help?

I got 14 for my 50G tank when they were still young. They are all podgers now and the bigger males (close to 8cm) will actually fight for food with the adult female bristlenose. But they do hide most of the day while the lights are on. They come out to eat at dinner time and once the lights are...

Rcs Disappearing At An Alarming Rate

We've had nymphs for a while due to coming in on some plants; various stages of development. I found the husk of the nymph this one came from - hence why I said must have moulted on the day. It was right next to the husk when I opened the lid and was feeding the guppies. The wings weren't...

Well, that one managed to avoid my searches for long enough, but didn't eat any of the 4 shrimp in there, so not sure what it lived off. Won't know for certain until I've not added new plants and/of several months pass. -G

Thanks. Except she is doing it all day. And like I said, restricted to the area along to one side of a 55G heavy planted tank. The other female swims all over. This one isn't nudging from within 5cm of the glass on that side. -G

    Bn Female 'patrolling'

Hi there, We have 3 BN. Two normal and one albino. Initially we kept the albino in the smaller 23G tank, and the breeding pair in the 55G tank. The breeding pair was successful, and because of the 40+ fry, I thought I'd be clever and remove their cave/tunnel...only to find that they 'made a...

Right... so I let things get a bit of of control... So after some trimming, moving some of the cabomba from the smaller tank to the larger one (the shrimp love eating them it seems) and pulling a tub full of elodea out... Had to check the elodea carefully to make sure I haven't...

What To Feed Baby Shrimp? [australia]

Ok, cool. I drop in API Shrimp Pellets and algae wafers and they're a big hit with all the inhabitants. The babies stick to the rear plants and seem to be doing ok - once they get to 2-3mm long they are venturing out onto the driftwood/decorations and into the java moss. -G

I did pretty much that. I trimmed some plants and moved them all around to search for nymphs. Found 2. I then moved all the shrimp to the main tank and moved the guppies from that tank. What an amazing change. The shrimp are no longer hiding all the time, and I've spotted quite a few new...

    Will An Angelfish 'fit'?

Hmm... I'm not overly attached to the guppies (females and almost all bland)... a Betta might be a great addition as a centre piece. And I'm sure he/she wouldn't want to go into the thick plant area. -G

    Will An Angelfish 'fit'?

Thanks all... so scratch Angelfish off the list. Will stick with the few guppies there are and see how the RCS go. Once I get the population to grow significantly, I'll look at adding something small that won't eat the adults and ensure that there's lot of safe areas for the shrimp to breed. -G

    Guppies Dropping Like Flies...

From my guppy experience, frayed tails is stress from harassment, either from other guppies (e.g. all males) or other fish. Guppy Has Vanished?

Adult guppies don't really tend to get eaten completely by the others (not in our tank at least) unless left in there for a long time. The smaller ones do tend to get picked on a little maybe. I do agree that they do go find somewhere to hide and die, and sometimes get lodged in/under things...
