Unknown Stem Plant - I.d. Help Please.

Yup. You're right its hornwort. I found better pics to compare it to. But where I found it, it was getting choked out by a plant that resembled rotala. I tried to take some home but it melted within days and the snails ate it. Thank you very much guys!

Unknown Stem Plant - I.d. Help Please.

I found these growing wild in a tiny stream and pulled a few before the water dried up. They've been thriving for a few weeks now in an outdoor quarantine bucket. They look great and I'd love to put them in one of my tanks, but I need to know exactly what it is so I can look up how to care for...

    Help White Worms?

Glad I could help! Yeah, bettas LOVE hunting for them once they figure out they're there and edible. You might have to watch that he doesn't get fat! Lol. Fish will definitely make sure you don't ever see them! On my water change days I deliberately stir my sand around and watch my gluttonous...

    Help White Worms?

I love that spreadsheet, too! I absolutely wigged out when I first saw detritus worms in my tank. Absolutely detested them until I did a little research on them and started observing them. You WANT them in your tank, I can tell you that. Think of them as earthworms for your aquatic garden...

Question 2 Dead Snails After 1 Week..

Okay, I did almost everything you did when I jumped back into this game - starting with cycling a tank with fish, heh. It sounds like your tank cycle caused all your problems, including the deaths of the males. They were in the tank the longest. My adult males were the first to go in my...

    Help Female Guppy Laying Help!

Yeah, I recently went down to one light daily feeding for all of mine. My guppies are really good at finding snacks in the plants, and they were staying bloated for too long. Even the fry are still thriving with this schedule. Good luck on the Cory babies, too!

Question 2 Dead Snails After 1 Week..

What kind of snails did you buy? And how had you placed them in the tank? Some snails are quite sensitive to pH changes and temp fluxes (they have an especially hard time with cooler water). They may need drip-acclimated to your water like shrimp would need to be. Then again, the snails may...

    Question Can I Add Fish?

Well, I would say that its reasonable so long as you are sure your tank is good and stable. I'd add just a few at a time, over the course of a couple weeks just to be sure your tank can keep pace with the added bio load. Good luck!

How Do I Transfer Fry From Tank To Tank

What kind of fry are you raising, may I ask? Well, my personal opinion is to put them in the bigger tank. Like you said, there's plenty of forage and no competition and less stress to the fry. As for fry food, in a pinch, I have fed mine regular fish flake ground super fine. As for the filter...

She's okay, she's just getting ready to be a momma! So long as she's still coming up for food she is okay. She's probably just tired and achy from her pregnancy. Other weird things they go though when pregnant include mood swings (nippy, territorial), twisting their bodies, scratching...

Okay, here's the short version: Male lemon BN Pleco, 3" or so long, age unknown. I brought him home healthy. Before I did, the pet store tested my tank water (API Test strips) and it tested: 0 Nitrites 0 - 5 ppm Nitrates pH 7.4 kh 80 ppm (US numbers) gh 180 - 220 ppm I forgot to have them...

Help Salt Dip For Killing Snail Eggs??? Very Urgent!! Help!!

Well, yeah, but it will damage/ kill the plant and any beneficial bacteria n it. If the egg patches are on your tank walls just wipe them out with a clean towel. Help Salt Dip For Killing Snail Eggs??? Very Urgent!! Help!!

What type of snail do they belong to? It also depends, I think, on what types of plants/fish/etc. that share the tank. But I doubt salt would phase the eggs. Snail eggs are notoriously resilient in my experience (assuming a bladder or ramshorn infestation).

    Detritus Worms?

I have a theory that assassin snails will eat detritus worms given nothing else to hunt. I base this on the one assassin snail I bought, who refused to eat any of the snails I put in with him for a whole month, and yet was healthy and growing. It wasn't until I put him in a bottomless tank...

    Question Ich....now Fin Rot?

Fin rot commonly follows ich, especially if they are sensitive or were sick for several days. I recently treated ich on guppy fry who had lost most of their fins due to subsequent fin rot. Detritus Worms?

Wow, I've had detritus worms before, but never anything quite that big. If they are detritus worms, they aren't harmful in the least. About all they do is scrounge on bacteria and shrimp poo.
