20g Multifasciatus Cichlid Tank- Ph Help

I just tested my ph after 2 hours being in a bucket and the ph is 7.8 so that’s good. Now I have to see if it will stay at the range. If I’m not having issues I may not go out and by the gH teat kit.

20g Multifasciatus Cichlid Tank- Ph Help

They have a wide range between 7.8-9. Apparently, I’ll be getting fish that were tank raised so I don’t think the ph will be on the higher end. I’ll go looking for sea shells but I also need to get a GH and KH kit too. Not sure what the reading of those are for my tap water.

20g Multifasciatus Cichlid Tank- Ph Help

Hello, I’m setting up my multi tank and my ph out of the tap is 7. I’m looking for ways to help increase ph and buffer it naturally so I’m not always chasing it. I’ve started soaking limestone to see how much it will increase my ph. For substrate I’m usual regular fine sand but maybe I should...

    Old Tank Syndrome

So I’ll keep doing my changes I guess. I’m thinking I could be over stocked. What do you think? I left my stock above. I could relocate my Cory cats into another tank instead of setting a multi cichlid tank. What do you think?

    Old Tank Syndrome

I’m no so sure. The left and right is pure tank water and the middle is 50:50. I did a 50% water change yesterday. I’ve been gravel vacuuming every day just to be 100%. I’m not understanding why it won’t drop below 40ppm. Maybe the gravel vacuum is stirring everything up? I even tested...

I must have had one too many glasses of wine because both tests were off. I rechecked this morning and it looks like I’m back on track. My nitrates are just slightly above 20ppm but not 40ppm either. So I’ll do another 50% today. Thanks for the help everyone. Now I’m going to go start scaping my...

    Old Tank Syndrome

Guys, what the actual ****! I did another water change and then checked my water and it said 40ppm. I then mixed half tank water and half tap and it read 5ppm. I’m so confused. How is that possible. My test kit is not expired. I only my feed once a day and it’s only a pinch. I’m lost, lol.

    Old Tank Syndrome

Thanks for the tip @mattgirl. I’ll give that a try when I get home. @Mom2some, it crazy how quickly it can happen. It is easy to get comfortable and assume all is well because the fish look fine but that doesn’t mean they’re not under stress. I’m surprised my the new albino bushy nose is...

    Old Tank Syndrome

Holy **** guys. I did another water change and he amount of gunk I got out of the gravel. It stirred up so much that my sponge filters are covered again. Should I leave them or clean them next week? Also, don’t know why my nitrates are not dropping after the 25% change. I’ve done a total of...
