A few years back I had a betta with some cories. The betta would, of course, eat the Cory food. I used a breeders net to feed the betta and separate the two during feeding. The betta soon learned to go into the breeder net, it was cute.
Also a new fish doesn't know your feeding schedule so...
I have no experience with that plant.
My thought is the plant has gone through a bit of shock. Leave it be and watch out for new growth.
You might check with the store policy. If it dies you could return it.
From the picture it looks to me he tore his fin and is starting to get infected.
Indian almond leaves are good since they have anti bacterial and anti fungal properties.
For a few weeks do 50% water changes daily. Clean water will help with healing.
New fin grow will be clear at first.
Occasionally, a leaf will be covered with these hard, seed like objects. They can be rubbed off easily. I have in the past a few times cut the whole leaf off. Once I let it be and I had several little tufts of BBA on the plant and the seed things were gone.
Does BBA reproduce like this?
Aqadvisor says 75%, although they don't list a thicklipped so I plugged in a dwarf, which is smaller.
Anyway, the HG's are presently in a 20 long and I would first rearrange the tank before adding all 3 at the same time.
If it doesn't work out I could get a Bolivian ram.
Thanks for your...
Hello, it is good you asked. And welcome to fishlore.
Since you just got him, my thought is maybe he is still stressed from his move and then being moved again while you cleaned his tank.
Bettas only need 3-4 pellets once a day. If he is very young, feed 2 pellets twice daily.
You may want...
Thanks, my older HG chases the younger when he gets in "his" corner. The younger one acts like the bratty kid brother and goes right back to the corner, LOL. They have never hurt each other and they do swim together.
I'll try it, good to know it worked for you.
Welcome to fishlore.
I would suggest thinking about what you like and want in your tank. Research each fish for compatibility, ie. pH, temperature, region of tank (bottom, middle, or top), peaceful or aggressive, suggested tank mates.
When you have an idea, check your stocking...
Would 2 honey gouramis and 1 thick lipped gourami live peacefully in a 29 gallon at 75.8* F with:
10 panda cories
6 amano shrimp
3 nerite snails
2 horned nerite snails
Your replies are appreciated, thanks.
Thanks for your reply.
I have non-acetate polish remover so tried an alcohol prep pad. It didn't budge. Tried sanding and it worked. Left it a little rough but that side will face the sand.
Thanks for everyone's help and quick replies.
Hi, thanks for your thought. I realized I could try to sand it off.
If it's safe, I would turn the stamped side to the sand so not to be seen.
Thanks, I'll also try that. It feels smooth, like it is apart of the plastic!!!
I'll try removing but if unable do you know if it is safe?
Hello and welcome to fishlore.
I would say...YES do it if that is what you want.
A while back I bought a baby 'boy' that turned out to be a baby girl. She was pretty, maroon body and charcoal fins. She happily and peacefully lived with other fish. Sadly, I rehomed her because she started...
I purchased some pvc pipe for caves. A 1/2" elbow for my CPO and a 1" tee for other fish (I do have 3 terracotta pots already and they get used).
Anyway, I used a piece of an algae cleaning pad to scrub the stamp off and it didn't budge.
1) how do you get it off?
2) if it doesn't...
Oh, I hear you about not wanting to get rid of it. When I went from 40B to 29G I kept my dozen panda cories and 6 rainbow praecox. I now have 10 pandas and 5 praecox. Swapped a few out this month. 29G is too small for even 5 praecox. Coming to terms with that in my head has been hard cuz I...
Well, I had a group of 6 fancy guppies for awhile, all male. The LFS said their behavior was aggression when they lip locked and swam in circles. No injuries occurred, a few split tails that healed quickly. That was the worst that happened. Otherwise, they swam around as a group.
Thanks for reply but I'm a little confused. You said 29G is fine then you say it's such a small space. Perhaps I misunderstood.
I don't want to make a fish uncomfortable. Do you have another suggestion?
Unfortunately, I had to downgrade from a 40 breeder to the 29 gallon, so a 55 gallon won't be in the picture.
Research says 30 gallon is minimum tank size. 29 gallon is .8 gallon less. I don't want a fish to just be OK but be happy.
Guess it is back to the drawing board!!!
Oh, how fast do...
Thanks for reply.
I was wondering about the shrimp. I wouldn't add them.
The main fish is an angelfish. I would very much like to have one and my largest tank is a 29 gallon.
The sand in that tank is black and I could get 6 albino cories instead of the pleco if temp is a problem.
I did the guppy thing two different times for several months each. They can wear you out watching them, LOL. They are pretty fish.
From my experience, they don't stop. They have endless energy. A tail or two would get split but would heal quickly. I thought perhaps from the quick...
They can get soggy from moisture in the air. I keep a small amount in a container in a drawer and store the rest in a plastic bag in the freezer.
People may go on vacation for say 2 weeks and use a feeder. IMO I think it is fine . Personally I wouldn't use it continually. Or just put in...
I had ick once a few years ago. It literally looks like salt on their bodies. That looks too big and it's just one spot.
I don't know what it is. I would suggest fungus. Is it fuzzy? You said it looks like dust. Did he have a sore there? Are you able to separate him?
See what others say.
Oden said some good things.
When the neighbors do their water change ask them for some/all of their floss, sponge or if they use bio balls (I can't think of the word, little ceramic cylinders/balls on which the beneficial bacteria live on) could you "borrow" some for a month or have a few. Or if...
Hello and welcome to fishlore.
You have nitrates so you are getting to the end of the cycling. It may be finished before you leave. Be patient a tad longer. Your pH is low due to daily water changes. Test the pH from your tap water. Do every other day changes. The prime is good for 24-48...
I hear ya', there were mixed opinions on the internet.
I've been thinking about every possible combination with what I have and what I want. It can get mind boggling LOL.
My 20L is fine as is with 2 honey gourami, 8 espei rasboras, 5 peacock gudgeons. It's a peaceful tank, I'm not going to...
Thanks for reply!!!
That was my original thought. I have 2 honey gourami and 8 espei rasboras in my 20 Long I was going to move and get a Bolivian ram. It was suggested I get 2 rams.
Then I wanted to move one of my betta into the 20 Long with 5 peacock gudgeons (They are yellow and red, not a...
Ideas, please, to finish off my tank. THANKS SO MUCH.
What I have now:
2 nerite snails
4 amano shrimp
11 panda cories (I know I have 1 too many)
What I would like:
1) 1 angelfish (if (1) could be happy in a 29G)
2) 1 PEARL gourami with 8 espei rasboras (rasboras from another...
Excruciating!!! I know that word. I'm sorry you have some of the same problems but I'm glad your son helps you. Can you sit while you harvest snails? I have a rolling task chair that lowers to bucket height. I use it when I squeeze filter sponges.
I tried different kinds of cories. I had panda, false julii , false bandit, albino and agazizi. 3-5 of each kind. The all stayed by themselves for the most part. One panda and one julii became buds. They would surf the back glass a lot.
I now have 11 pandas and I prefer a big number...
That would have been awful!!! No, it didn't break. Soon after I got it I would have pain in my back when cleaning the tank. I had it a little over a year and a half and the pain just got worse and worse, to the point I was hating maintenance. No longer any enjoyment. That is why. I tried a back...
There is a family pet store I was going to take them to. The 1st Tuesday of each month they have fish swap day, giving 1/2 store credit of what they sell the fish for. I know they would care for them.
I don't know about who would buy them. Is that thinking too much?
I don't know anyone else...
Sadly I have come to the decision to give my beloved (6) rainbow praecox a better home.
It has taken me two months to work this out in my head. I really love these fish.
In May I had to change my 40 breeder to a 29 gallon. That was hard enough. At the time I couldn't ALSO get rid of...
I would quarantine him. Sadly, sometimes smaller fish don't make it.
Will he eat bloodworms? Live is healthy but I was thinking you could soak bloodworms in garlic guard and vita chem to help build him up.
Good luck with him, hope he makes it.
