Help Rasbora With Redness And Swelling

After googling septicemia I think you’re right. I lost a rasbora a couple of weeks ago. They didn’t show redness or localized swelling like this one is, but the abdomen did look bloated. So this pattern of events fits the bill. I had already added some E.M Erthromycin to the tank earlier today...

Help Rasbora With Redness And Swelling

I have a school of rasbora hets with a female betta and a mystery snail in a 20 gallon planted tank. I noticed one of my rasboras wasn’t schooling with the others and when I looked closer I saw redness and swelling around the gill and also the abdomen looks a little swollen as well. Pics...

    Important Ceramic Rings

Ceramic rings are made out of ceramic. Ceramic does not contain calcium or other minerals that dissolve in water. If you put something like a cuttlebone in a fish tank, it will dissolve over time because it's made out of calcium and other minerals that dissolve in water. Ceramic doesn't dissolve...

    20 Gallon Stocking

Look at pristella tetras. I've kept 10 of those with a betta for a while now and it's worked out well. Also with chili rasboras I'd be concerned about their size... they might become betta food. So I agree with you ruling them out, but for a different reason.

    Help Female Betta Has Popeye

I know I haven't been on fishlore in a LONG time. So hi. How've you been, fishlore? One of my female bettas has been living in a 29 gallon tank with pristella tetras and kuhli loaches for several months, and she does great with her tank mates, but sadly today I noticed she has developed popeye...

Establishing Territories In New 45 Gal

Hi welcome to fishlore. Here are a few of things I noticed that you might want to evaluate: Angelfish are aggressive fish. Even towards their mate when they're paired. When they breed, they will aggressively protect their eggs from every other fish in the tank. But even when not breeding they...

Update: The swordtail and the shark have gone missing. I have no idea where either of them are. Maybe they're hiding? Maybe they died and the snails ate their remains? Maybe one of each? IDK. But I haven't seen either fish for over a week. Meanwhile, all the other fish are doing well. The...

    29g Stocking W/ Betta

I believe that if it can fit in a tank mate’s mouth, it will get eaten. Especially if that tank mate is a piggy fish like a betta. But, if you have a super chill betta, it might be okay. I just hate to see you buy a bunch of expensive betta food.

    29g Stocking W/ Betta

Chili rasboras are so small I fear a betta may eat them. I recommend harlequins because I have seen it work several times (keeping bettas with them). I don't know a lot about different types of rasboras, but I do know about harlequins. They're big enough to not get eaten, and they don't tend to...

    Rescuing Goldfish Advice

Cool. You're definitely going to put them in a better situation than they are coming from. And you're already aware that for 2 fancy goldfish you should have at least 40 gallons (20 gallons per fish), so that's good. I think this 29 will be just fine while you come up with a long term plan...

    29g Stocking W/ Betta

As someone who used to keep neon tetras with a betta, I advise you not to keep tetras with a betta. They can get fin nippy... rummynoses and neons both do it. I suggest rasboras instead, specifically, harlequin rasboras. I do like @ValerieAdams' suggestions for bottom dwellers, though.

^Just to add, move the filter over as well. I know @mattgirl said "move everything" but I just want to make sure you understand that includes the filter, in addition to the gravel, decor, and water. I know the new tank will have a new filter... run both filters simultaneously for at least 2...

Betta Owners: What Has Yours Done To Scare/stress You?

When my sorority crashed, that was pretty stressful. Help Betta Spits Out Most Of His Food

Bettas thrive on a varied diet. Maybe after...

5 Gallon Tank Tank And Betta Advice

Yes. I know at first it sounds weird. But the reason (we think) that some bettas bite their fins is because they feel like their fins are impairing their ability to swim. 5 Gallon Tank Tank And Betta Advice

1: Avoid messing with the pH. As long as the pH isn't crazy far off, the betta will appreciate stable parameters over parameters that are always changing because you're chasing an ideal pH. 2: What is your AMMONIA reading? Need Help Deciding Which Snake To Get!

I was under the impression hognoses grow faster / get bigger than sand boas? If I'm wrong about that, okay then. If you get a male it will stay smaller, so maybe that will work? Best Lifetime Axolotl Setup?

Oh I know you don’t plan to use that same tank, you just asked about that light so that’s what I was commenting on. Yes, a flower pot will be just fine as a cave. Forming a cave out of a bunch of plants may work, but my concern is the axie destroying the fake plant cave by pummeling through it.

What medication did you use to treat the ich? Bacterial infections are a common secondary condition after treating for ich and other parasites. I believe API E.M. Erythromycin is made to treat secondary bacterial infections in conjunction with parasite treatment, such as ich treatment.

    Best Lifetime Axolotl Setup?

I think as far as the axolotl is concerned, that light will be just fine. But it might not be enough for your plants. I don't know a lot about plant lighting, that's just my initial thought. As long as the light is enough for the plants, and not too much for the axie, go with it. And I would be...

    Best Lifetime Axolotl Setup?

No, do not put fish in the tank as a prey that the axie can hunt at its own leisure. Axolotl gills look like blood worms, and little fish like guppies like to nip at them. I'd also say if you do want to keep more than 1 in the same tank, make sure they are adults. Juveniles tend to eat each...

Sorry to double post, but I'm adding information and wanted to make sure you get notified. This is a video I took of my axolotl eating frozen bloodworms. As you can see, I didn't hand feed, and she systematically worked her way around the tank finding each and every worm.

    Best Lifetime Axolotl Setup?

I've never seen an axolotl uproot a plant, but like I said, they like to lay on top of plants, so make sure the plant is strong enough to not collapse under their weight. How much you feed the axie depends on their size. As a juvenile they don't even need an entire cube of bloodworms, but as an...
