    10g split betta tank

Undergravel filters are not that great, at all. I would just get a hob filter or an internal filter.

how do you deal with bullies?

Yes. First of all swordtails are way too large for that size aquarium, so is the Molly. The platy is fine. The tetras need a school of six or more. The platy is probably the only one you can keep in the aquarium. The tetras alone would overtock your tank.

20 Gallon tank has crack in it at the bottom!

Starting to think it is cursed. Next time use a dust pan. It works well.

    Big enough to admit I was wrong. . . . . .

Man that sucks. What size tank do you have them in? I would return one and plant the aquarium heavily then try again.

    Butterfly Beta

I like it, I don't like common names. I'm trying to get a name for my gold gourami but he never comes out enough to see what he's like personality wise. He's super shy.

    Butterfly Beta

I usually translate some traits of the fish or fishes personality. Because I don't know the character traits of him I just threw some into Google translate and came up with this. Lila- Hungarian, Purple Chispa- Spanish, Spark Fotia- Greek, fire Just some names I thought looked cool. Most of my...

    Information on Gertrudae fish

I saw your other post and saw somewhere that they don't do well in a community tank. It said it would be outcompeted for food and stuff so I don't know what that's about. It also says their really shy. They look really awesome and I'm looking into getting some now. They are a shoaling fish so get 6.

About to be done with fish keeping. All my fish die with a cycled tank.

There is absolutely no reason to go out and buy more fish just to see if it'll die because of water quality. It's not right to have something die to test the water. Do a tear down, make sure everything is clean, then go and get fish from another store.

    Corydora stocking

I'm getting some false juliies, hopefully. They look really cool (and are the only Cory my petsmart stocks other than albino's)!

About to be done with fish keeping. All my fish die with a cycled tank.

Better safe than sorry. I'd just get a new pack of filter media and have it run on the Betta tank to build up the bacteria.

About to be done with fish keeping. All my fish die with a cycled tank.

But then he would just kill more fish to confirm that it's the tank. Basically wasting lives of fish. Do a 100% clean, soak everything in vinegar. Solve the problem with the tank first.

    Room for more?

    Alright. That sounds good.
  17. IKnowNothing

    Room for more?

Yeah, he gets somewhat aggressive during feeding. He only chases this one guppy that is a yellow cobra even then.
  18. IKnowNothing

Boyfriend brought home more fish >_<

I'd definitely remove the betta. If you really like the glowlights just up that school to about 8-10. I think that should be about stocked.
  19. IKnowNothing

    fish keep dying.

Apparently the ammonia is high. That could do it. It may also be because of the betta being stressed because of the ammonia and snapping.

    Room for more?

Alright. I might just leave it at 6 corys, don't want to get too stocked. Still want some room just incase something happens. My guppies are mostly male, I got one female by accident and plan on returning her for a male, she looks really good though so I may just put her in another tank. I'm...

    Room for more?

So far in my 55g I have 4x guppy 1x Gold gourami 1x swordtail 5x neon tetra (getting one more) I was planning on school of Corry cats, but the aquarium looks pretty full. I'm very content with what I have so if there is not enough room it's fine. Also I just did my first water change, all the...

About to be done with fish keeping. All my fish die with a cycled tank.

I would clean the tank 100% before getting any more fish. Just to make sure. Put the filter on one of your Betta tanks to make sure it keeps the cycle and then wash everything down with vinegar, white.

About to be done with fish keeping. All my fish die with a cycled tank.

I would make sure that it wasn't the water quality before going and seeing if its just bad stock. I wouldnt want to kill more fish thinking it's bad stock and then realize it's something in the water.

Yes. Also you mentioned keeping the fish in the bag to acclimate for four hours? It seems like a long time to me, I usually do maybe an hour with the lights off.

55 Gallon Tank Ok, help plz. Expert advice needed!

Upside down catfish would be nice. Your tank will look pretty empty, I would do corries and a school of glass catfish. Maybe ditch the Raphaels and the banjos?

What happens when schooling fish are not in a school?

Man I saw a video of them being captured in the wild, a guy just went over to a creek and pulled out like hundreds in one small scoop. It was crazy. They do show very social behavior though, mine hardly ever separate.

    More fish and plants!

The guppies are occupied smothering the only female guppy in the tank with all their love and affection. I think she might make it because of how fast she is compared to the males and she has a lot of room to run. I'll see if things selttle down tomorrow. If not I'll remove him. I think the...

Thanks! I made a video of the gourami and Musata: Musata shows his love for gold gourami: https://youtu.be/blnQUW5O3ZY Musata doesn't bother anyone but the gourami.

    More fish and plants!

Thanks everyone! The sword tails "advances" have become a bit more invading, he has started to rub up against the gourami and the gourami will chase him off, usually resulting in the sword tail getting a bit hostile himself. I think the gourami might kill him if something doesn't happen. Maybe...

    More fish and plants!

Today I went to petsmart and got more fish and plants. I got a gold gourami (female, name is coming) three more guppies, asked for two and he gave me three. I also got four more neons. I also got an Amazon sword and a couple vals. One of the guppies he gave me was female even though I asked for...

So this happened....any ideas on what I can do differently than my 29g?

You could probably do about 2-4 swordtails and maybe two small schools of tetra (6-10). I'm not sure if this would be understocked but it's about the stocking I'm going with on mine but with only one school of tetra a school of corydoras two swordtails and a gourami and maybe a guppy or two.

Ich in my tank, put kosher salt water in my tank is it safe for my fish?

Once you get rid of the ich I suggest you either rehome most of the fish or upgrade. Anglefish get too large for that size tank, glowfish, which are often either danios or skirt tetras which need a school of at least six and are quite active. Normal Plecos get way too large for that size...

How To Feed Garlic to Fish?

Thanks Aquarist, I did a clove in the food processor and fed it to them with their morning meal. They seem to avoid it but it's all gone so that's good. That process of making garlic juice seems very long, it's not that I'm not patient but my fish are still sick, so I might just pick up some...

How To Feed Garlic to Fish?

Alright, my ich infection looks like it has gone away, there are no spots on the fish at all. I realize that the spores or parasites may still be around so I finally got some garlic to strengthen the immune system of the fish (or whatever it does ), my question is how to prepare and give it to...

    Looking for a new tank

I got my 55g for about $100, came with the filter a stand which I ended up tossing because it looked like it was last used in the 1800's, a light which is fantastic at growing my hornwort and a nice fluval heater which is great.

If not the chocolates I'm probably going with honey. Just have to wait for this stupid ich pandemic to be over to get anything.
