Its great! I got the GLA paintball regulator for 200 with the atomic diffuser. Its arguably the best diffuser on the market. The microbubbles look like smoke!
Takes a while getting used to and dialing in the right amount though. I've had my first accident last week after the Eheim seeded and I...
Thanks! I always had plans to go with the co2, there is really no other way to get a nice carpet of DHG. And the plants love it. You should see the pearling from the leaves at night when the co2 turns off.
I'll have to get a video for y'all
A little update.
Lots of new gear and new plants!
-Got rid of the val and giant grass and replaced with microsword and hydrocotle
-added Eheim 2213 with glass pipes
-hydor inline heater
-hydor power head
-doubled my lighting
-EI dry dosing
Have done a few trims on...
You could even stack the slate like this. I moved things around over the weekend so now they got 3 hides to chose from. They're loving it.
PS. Did your tank ever cycle? I've been doing 2x 25% a week with no luck still :/ cold water with dudes this messy has proven to he a nightmare.
So i've been looking online for solutions to hang my 4 lamp fixture over my planted tank.
so far the best hanger i have found was from aquatic life. the problem is, you need a wood stand for it to work.
I have decided that it isn't too hard to get some steel conduit and bend it over...
I'm currently growing a carpet of dwarf hair grass. And dont find a need to really vacuum the substrate. There is some good fertilizer in there. Just skim like the others said. Lightly.
As for the baby tears. I would advise against it unless you have very high light, and pressurized co2...
These pill boxes make my daily dry fert dosing a brainless task. I measure out my doses for the month with a digital scale which was also a great purchase.
They would also work great for food if you go on vacation and need someone to feed your fish for you
Thank you! Just waiting for that carpet to grow I got new plants coming in the mail today so that's going to help with any algae issues. I hope.
Its running at 2 bps, the drop checker is usually on the lime side of green but not yellow. I dose daily EI dry.
That's 4 bulbs over the...
How are you changing the water? Try filling gently. I'm guessing its the force of the water that's causing them to uproot. Once they establish a good root system it won't be a problem anymore. Just keep popping them back in
The SAE seem clear of ick, I'm still very perplexed!
I'm other news, the rummy nose in QT started showing ick this week. Thank god those guys were in QT, although I suspect the conditions in the QT (bare bottom) might have actually caused it. They seem to be doing okay though. I have the temp...
I have never done a dirt tank, but almost did. If you didn't sift the dirt and rinse it well before it went in the tank it will take a bunch of water changes before all the tannins release from the dirt
Can't really tell what you have planted but you might be able to get away with it.
Also, for your water changes - how are you doing them? Buckets? If so that's a reason why your soil is getting kicked up. Make sure you pour slowly on top of a mug as to not disturb the soil.
I assume you using...
Depends what you want to with the tank. If you're not interested in growing plants, sell them and maybe get some LEDs. If you think you want to grow demanding plants down the road, keep it and only use 2 bulbs.

But like the others said, you need co2 with high light, the DIY wont cut it. If you're serious about growing plants a good pressurized system should be on your shopping list
Thanks ken! Not off topic since you have posted your tank and now this thread will save lives.
Im going to get mine off the floor this weekend.
Quick tip - if you get a piece of paper and place it on the back of your surge protector where the mounting holes are, you can punch holes in the...
they are great entry level DSLRs but the sensors on them are kind of meh. I'd love to get a 70D or something more high end, but i just don't shoot that much to justify the purchase.
and thanks, ill take that as a compliment Stephani19
So, i got some siamese algae eaters last night from a very reputable fish store. Because i trust the store so much and have heard nothing but great things, I didn't feel the need to QT ( I know, shame on me ) I also have some 6 new Rummy Nose Tetras in quarantine so it wasn't really an option...
Sorry to hear that! Dont get rif of the filter though, it won't get rif of nitrates. Nitrates are the end product of the nitrogen cycle. Supplement if you have to.
A few more fish will help for sure and you can overfeed a little bit.
Its also worth noting, it could be your test kit - if you...
