3 weeks old. Cycled already. Kind of assumed there would be algae in a new tank because there isn’t stopping that but It all just went right for the sword.

    Algae On Amazon Sword

Just put an Amazon sword in the tank 2 weeks ago. Been using CO2 boost every day and Sacheam flourish once a week. Also have a root tab near the sword. The sword looks great and has lots of leaves, besides the algae. Brown and green on the leaves so I’m not sure what you would call that. The...

    Secrets To Growing Certain Plants

Certain plants need more light than others. Java fern or Anubias don’t need a lot of light. Most root tabs last quite awhile so I’m not sure that you should be using them every water change if you are doing them once a week. For plants it would be good to get at least 10 hours of light a day...

What Is The Best Fertilizer For Live Plants?

I have been using API CO2 boost daily, Seachem flourish once a week, and have used Seachem root tabs. Seems to be doing some good so far. I know there are lots of other brands and different fertilizers out there that I have not used. Give some input on some other fertilizers you have tried and...

    Timid Tetras

Very nice planted tank! This is normal behavior for tetras. Used to have a bunch of red eye tetras in a 55 gallon. Had them for 5 years and were skittish all the time. No need to worry.

    Help Ph At 8.0!

When cycling the tank you want the ammonia and nitrites to rise so that the two bacteria colonies can grow. Changing water while ammonia and nitrite is present is just preventing the bacteria colonies from growing. Ammonia and nitrite is very toxic to fish when these levels get too high so if...

10 Gallon Tank Lighting For Plants.

Get some T12 bulbs. They are A LOT cheaper than most of the other bulbs that are high quality. They work amazing for something that is 90% cheaper than all the light bars. You can get them at varying lengths. You can build a small hood for the lights. The T12 ones that I got are full spectrum...

    Cycling Issue

20 gallon tank has been up for 2 weeks. Have anacharis, Amazon sword, and java fern in there. 10 fish as well. My ammonia levels are getting kind of high. The nitrites are low but they are present. 0 nitrates. Did a 5 gallon water change without sweeping and got them down a little bit. If they...

    Help Ph At 8.0!

Very true! Forgot to mention that it’s probably better to use your pH buffer when originally setting up your tank and putting water in so you don’t get those swings in pH. I’ve had fish die from that. RO water is the cleanest water you can buy

Opinions On How To Get Clean This Green Algae. Please

Two ways that may help. Carefully move all that gravel out of the way if possible. Then scrape with razor blade or algae sponge pad. Careful not to scratch the glass. You could also buy an algae eater that would probably clean that up pretty well
  32. B

    Help Ph At 8.0!

You can buy pH buffer that will lower it immediately if you follow the directions. Using RO water would also help but it’s not needed.

What Is Wrong With My Water?!?

If I were you, I would not vacuum the gravel on the 10% water changes. Doesn’t seem like a big deal unless it continues for awhile. Then you may want to vacuum a small portion. And you can clean the filter just do not dispose of any of the media or clean that. Clean the casing and everything else.

    How To Grow Lush Plants

I have a 20 gallon long tank that has been setup for about 1 week. Planted some anacharis, have a small java fern, and just planted an amazon sword. I have been CO2 boost in every day for about a 1 mL dose. I am starting to use flourish once a week. I have 2 light bulbs that are T12 full...
