The girl who sold them to me at my LFS (a small, local one) told me she tries to always sell them in pairs because they like it better, and she knew they were going into a 5 gallon. This makes me sad now :(
I’m not sure how she died. There were no signs of anything - totally healthy one day (or so it appeared), dead the next. And the two girls always got along... never really bothered each other. Suppose I just got lucky.
Edited to say they were together in the 5 gallon for 8 months with no issues.
I currently have a 5 gallon tank with a female betta... it used to have two up until this morning when I lost one of my girls :(
I also have a 10 gallon tank with a male gourami and two male fancy guppies.
Do you think I could introduce my remaining female betta in to the 10 gallon or would I be better off...
I have a 10 gallon with 6 fancy male guppies in it now. My male Betta used to live in this tank, too but either the guppies didn’t like him or he didn’t like the guppies but either way it didn’t go well and he lives on his own now.
The tank is a little bare now so I’m looking into getting a new...
Oh good, seriously a relief.
I’ve been sitting here for days trying to figure out what on earth I’m doing wrong!
I’m currently cycling a second, fishless 10 gallon so glad I’m figuring all of these types of things out with the first tank and hopefully the second tank is less... deadly.
I’ve been doing 25% water changes every other day with substrate vacuuming, I feed flaked food every other day (opposite of water changes), and I stock 6 fancy guppies and 1 mystery snail.
I had 8 guppies and 2 snails - so I’m seeing them slowly die off.
There’s nothing in the tank where I’m...
I attached some photos of him closer up - doesn’t look like any raised scales.
I also seem to be battling nitrites... I did a 50% water change in my 10 gallon tank last night, and salted it (2 tbsp aquarium salt) for the second time in 3 days, and the levels are still high... I tested my hospital...
I went out and bought the API freshwater master test kit today so I’m going to test my tanks... I also just set up a 2.5 gallon “hospital” tank with half water from his original tank and half new water. Let it run for an hour with conditioner/bio support - it’s got a light, filter, and heater. I...
