    Question Refugium lights

Those are good prices, but it’s too much for me. A little overkill for a 10 gallon. Thanks for all the help Nart!

    Question Refugium lights

Really, 17 to 20 inches? That will be an awful lot of light bleeding out around it. Oh well, I guess I’ll put some house plants nearby. I was going to do a smaller tank, about 10 gallons, for a g. smithii mantis. I wanted to do a really natural, overgrown look. Like with “pest” corals. Fast...

    Question Refugium lights

Would a luxbird par38 light be able to grow some easy corals, namely pulsing Xenia and some leathers, along with macro algae in the display? It is listed as a refugium light, but some of the reviews said it can grow corals just fine. Thoughts?

The fish are in. 3 neon red Sumatra gobies and 8 wcmm, but I think I received Vietnamese minnow. I’ll have to wait and see. They all seem alright and active.

This is what it looks like now, all set up. It has been very clean so far and I can report no issues. I’m going to do a 5 gallon water change today and fix the sand and pebbles, as they got moved around when filling the tank. I’m also thinking of getting the gobies next week, as I’m going to...

Thanks for the suggestion. It just ended up scrubbing with a toothbrush for some time. The tank is all set up, plants and everything. I will post pics Monday and order the fish sometime soon.

Opinions On Mixing Freshwater Hillstream Gobies

Alright, I’ll take that into account. I may just do stiphodons, in part from space limits.

    My Pea Puffer

Yeah, that looks like a gsp. They get to be 6 inches, so a 30 to 40 gallon would be appropriate. They are also quite aggressive I’ve heard, and they do need marine .salt.

Help New Pea Puffer & Glass Surfing

That tank is sufficiently planted, and a second could fit. It’s more about bioload and line of sight. The glass skimming, at least on the front glass can be a sign of wanting attention or food, but on the back and sides could be boredom and is not uncommon in puffers. Dan hiteshew did a video on...

Question Can A Dwarf Puffer Fit In A Five Gallon?

They aren’t the only puffer that schools, Amazon puffers do too. The group I’ve had hasn’t been too territorial, but it depends, as their personality can vary so much. It’s like with angels, 2 is ok, 3 is not, 4 is ok. It’s making sure that the guy at the bottom isn’t too beat up. Also...

    Shrimp Bio Load Question

The shrimp alone will only produce waste equivalent to what you feed, like with all fish and inverts. Shrimp also manage their population based on how much food is available. Find an amount you want to feed while keeping the water stable, then they will adjust to that. For context though, I’ve...

Opinions On Mixing Freshwater Hillstream Gobies

They really are great. I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while, but could never get the right hardscape for it.

Opinions On Mixing Freshwater Hillstream Gobies

I’m gonna set it up in a few days, as the process will be a bit long. It is currently set up, the old version, a jungle scape, and the tank has reached equilibrium, so when I go out to return the other fish, I’m going to pick up the WCMM’s, and replug in my canister, hopefully keeping all my...

Opinions On Mixing Freshwater Hillstream Gobies

Yeah, I would just get them before it gets cold, so after a month or so, at the most 3 months. I have repashy, I plan on growing cucumbers and getting some bacter AE. I may end up getting two sets of stiphodons then, both a 1-2 male female, so 6 in total.

Opinions On Mixing Freshwater Hillstream Gobies

Hey everyone, I’ve started a thread on the setup of my 20 long hillstream tank, and need help with stocking. I’m planning on having a group of 8 White Cloud Mountain Minnows (WCMM) and a group of 6 pseudogastromyzon. But the more important fish I want to house is a stiphodon species. Currently I...

Converting A Porch Flower Bed Into A Porch Pond

To raccoon and wildlife proof ponds you can get chicken wire fence and build a frame to cover it whenever you aren’t about. I’m sure some of you could even automate it.
