    Trials And Tribulations Again?

Just experienced a somewhat similar situation with the rams I got from @coralbandit Everyone went into the QT, exploring their new home. Then the "Gold" pair became terrors. Chasing the others constantly even tag team chasing. Even riled up the cories. Against my better judgement had to move...

    Jmaldo's Discus Build

He is a character, I think he is bored and misses his mate. Taking a break from EBA breeding have to keep them apart or they breed like rabbits. I got them from @coralbandit also know as the "Ram" guru. Highly recommend. Thanks, the planting is a start, I have had success at 78 degree tanks...

    Tfreema's New 75g

Agree and Agree again. The "curse" of planted tanks. I just got rid of the duckweed a few months ago. Picked up some plants at the auction and you guessed it "Duckweed" again. It just takes a couple and now everywhere. Ugh! Just might try the skimmer idea from @DarkOne Good Luck!

    Discus Gang Updates

Supply and demand. It is disappointing. That is why I am giving EBA breeding a break. A few spawns ago I was getting around $5 a piece for 4-5 month fish, the LFS's were bidding on eachother, it was "Great". They paid for the "Discus". Then the bottom fell out on pricing. It appears the fish...

    Back In The Game...

:( What a shame. Thanks for sharing your trials, just a reminder to all of us. Be careful what we add to our tanks. You mentioned using H202, have you considered a "PP" treatment. I remembered @coralbandit does it. Wanted a fresh start on a 33L gave it 2 overdosed treatments for a few days, so...

How to get Bolivian Rams to Breed?

Agree with @Feohw @mbkemp @coralbandit Just relax let them settle in, it's only been a week. I bought a proven pair and it took them 3 weeks to get comfortable enough in their new home to come out and say "Hi". Then a week later they spawned, if its meant to be "Mother Nature" will encourage...

    Jmaldo's Discus Build

Also, threw in some plants in the 55. Not bad for a start. But it appears the "EBA" doesn't appreciate my choice in plants he has spent the majority of today attacking them. LOL Oh, I forgot a pic of the "Hybrid" and more pics of the 55 inhabitants.

    Jmaldo's Discus Build

Well had a few days vacation needed to be used, so some extra time with the fish. The "Rams" arrived from @coralbandit on Friday. Thanks again, Tom. They are "Beautiful" specimens. The pair of "Darks" are unreal, their pelvic fins have some unique coloration, blue/orange. The "Golds" have orange...

    Additions Ideas for 20 Tall

Bolivians, one of my favorite. They are very personable and come up and "Greet" me when I approached the tank (actually they are just begging for food). Such characters and I liken them to puppies. I have raised hundreds and the sparing that occurs is mostly just posturing, no real harm...

    Getting fry in fry box?

Have not kept Swordtails, but have raised Guppy, Platy along with Bolivian and Electric Blue Acara. I have always left the female live-bearer and eggs in the tank. As mentioned it depends on the tank mates and hides the fry have. Survival of the fittest. As far as removing the female, no real...

    Question Discus Temperature Debate

Short timer here with "Discus" After quite a bit of research, the consensus was 82 - 86, so I keep mine @ 84. According to my supplier the fry were raised @ 86. I have a young pair that spawn continually @ 84. Still no fry they keep eating the eggs. Once I know I have a viable pair (wigglers)...

    Discus Gang Updates

As mentioned you can try. I had my EBA pair spawn, the bottom fell out on pricing at my LFS's. So, I let "Mother Nature" handle it. Ended up with a dozen fry, added then to the Discus tank. The Discus went on the hunt as soon as I dropped them in. It was a sight to behold. That was a few weeks...

    Jmaldo's Discus Build

Just a touch of Under watering Gardening. Not ready for "Prime-time" so no pics just yet. Was per-occupied with the water changes and getting the tank ready for my acquisitions from @coralbandit I did add about 1/2" of black sand to the 55g. And.... My pair are still trying to get it right...

    Discus Gang Updates

I would not recommend Hatchets, they are jumpers. Started with12 down to 5. My son found another last night about 2 feet away from the tank. There was an opening only about 3/16", it found a way. I am going to have to re-think the dithers. I know Cardinals, but just not to my liking. On...

    Help 125 Gallon Community.

Hey, Buddy. Glad to here your still playing in the water. LOL Have fun with the Acara breeding, I did. I need to keep the pair apart or they spawn every 3-4 weeks. I had Acaras in every tank. Taking a break for now.
