Maybe with small fish. Their babies are quite small as you would expect so, again, if you want a nice colony, probably best not too. These crays can be aggressive towards each other though without enough hides and space and spread out food.
Yeah, depending on your betta, it could be hard to build a good colony of shrimp if the betta is aggressive. But with heavy planting, they can work together. You just likely wont get a huge colony fast. But the betta may stay well fed on shrimp baby cracklins! Lol
Your tank is made to try cherry shrimp! They are the tanks of the shrimp world, and unlike amanos, they breed in fresh water and make great cleaners...fun to watch too. But I’m biased. I have them and adore them,
You could try monte carlo as a carpet plant. Its slow growinf without CO2 but pretty hardy with a good substrate or root tabs.
I have shrimp too and love this plant. I just trimmed it back a bit in this pic.
You are right! That is crazy! If you didnt have the fish, I would recommend no water changes. I doubt you have a place to temp home the parrot till your tank cycles through?BUT! If your ammonia doesnt change even with water changes? Why bother?
Maybe stop stressing the ammonia and just do...
Hmm...with off the chart ammonia, you should also have off the chart nitrates I think with a cycled tank? It just sounds completely uncycled. Some nitrites should be there too maybe? Try some Tetra safe start or equivalent to jump start your cycle. The tank is very new after all, it cant hurt.
Beautiful! I just rescaped my 20 gallon long. Its for CPO crays and shrimp (they are in a temp tote till this tank is ready) I really like your jungle look. Not too overgrown and very nice to show off your fish!
Thanks, thats a help. Yes, its been a struggle. I thought I had built a beautiful tank for neo shrimp and they mostly all died off, not due to cycles or any of that, but for unexplained reasons. I messed up somewhere, I dont know how because I have a beautiful red neo colony in a separate...
Without going into details about why it needs a redoing (getting unexplained deaths not due to water quality), I am going to completely break down my tank, and redo it. New substrate, new rock, same plants and DW. I am planning on making a temp tank out of a tote.
Can anyone give me the...
