    My African Cichlid Tank

Well my stocking isn't going as planned. I picked up four electric yellows and I am thinking at least three of them are males by the way they interact with each other. Either that or they might be hybrids, though they weren't in the "assorted cichlid" tank. I have three yellow tails...seem to be...

    Let The Cycling Begin!

Well the cycle is complete! After way too many impatient water tests, and explaining the fishless cycle too many times when asked over and over " did you get fish yet?". My tank is processing 4ppm of ammonia in 24 hours. I picked up my first group of fish yesterday.

    Adjusting Hardness

Hey all, I am cycling my 75 gallon tank and planning a mbuna tank. Out of the tap my ph is 8 , kh is 5 degrees and gh is 9 degrees. Any suggestions on raising hardness without raising ph? Thanks.

    Let The Cycling Begin!

Thanks guys, I thought about going with TSS or Dr Tim's but decided to go fishless. Though I may pick up a bottle of TSS to see if I can speed up the cycle.

    Let The Cycling Begin!

It is a 75 , planning on mbuna. I had a 55 set up about 15 years ago with african cichlids, and a 125 brackish tank. But after we moved they sat empty for 15 years.

    Let The Cycling Begin!

Well no luck in getting any gravel or used sponges from my lfs, we have to two big Pet stores near me and both say it is against store policy. So it looks like I will be staring at this empty tank for a few weeks...lol.

    Egg Crates And African Cichlids.

Thanks for the quick replies. My initial plan was going use black eco complete, but I have some left over Schist slabs and stepping stepping stones I will be cleaning and using. I think a lighter substrate will look better so I decided to go with pool filter sand.

    Egg Crates And African Cichlids.

This will be my first time using a sand substrate so I am curious how much of the egg crate will be exposed from the fish digging through the sand. And if there is a way to minimize the exposed egg crate. Thanks
