Have any of you brought home plants from a lake or river and put them in your tank after cleaning them?
I have seen someone online spraying plants that they ordered with a solution of peroxide (I think) and water, maybe to remove any hitch-hikers?
Upgrading from a 20g long planted tank, to a 55 gallon planted sand tank because I am overstocked.
I am looking to relocate to the 55:
1 x Dwarf Gourami
5 x Bloodfin Tetras
1 x Clown Pleco
4 x Green Tiger Barbs
4 x Electric Glo Tiger Barbs
1 x Rainbow Shark
and maybe some cory...
Just a little update, I dropped the lights down to only being on for 4 hours per day and dropped in some Flourish Excel and that spider web algae (Staghorn) is pretty much toast. Also feeding the fish less is helping.
Side effect was that it killed all my anubias(?) plants but I read that they...
I have 6 Bloodfin Tetras that are about 1.5" long so far. They remind me a tiny trout.
They school/shoal (whatever) but also zip around the tank really fast.
I am waiting another week to grab a dwarf gourami and then I should be all set.
I think what I have is called Staghorn.
Grows in strands that branches out. Looks a bit like deer antler. Black to grey/green in colour and sometimes has a red tint.
Low CO2 and/or poor water...
I also have these Coralife Color Max bulbs - two of them. I left them off today thinking that maybe I am dumping too much light in the tank.
The tank is located in an enclosed porch (which is heated) and has a good deal of light in the room during the day, but the tank is not right in front of...
My 20g long planted tank has developed this blackish/greyish, spider-web-like (what I assume is) algae on my plants.
I want to get rid of it but everything I search for does not match what this is.
