29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

I wouldn't say it's sharp at all, but it's not exactly high quality either. My skin is obviously a lot less sensitive than that of a fish. I'll see if I can find enough buckets to do that, but right now I only know of one... I'll get it done somehow. I was going to wait until the weekend because...

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

No it didn't still have it's barbels. I'm going to have to change the substrate this weekend... Do you think they'll be okay in there for a week or should I move them to an uncycled 10g? Not sure which would be more harmful...

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

I didn't find a whole lot of pictures of Red Blotch, but it does seem to generally fit. Here's a photo, tell me what you think.

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

My sick Cory died today, and I noticed something odd. What I thought was something like inflamed gills moved to the center of his body. It was a large round red circle that seemed beneath the skin. Having thought his condition was a result of stress, I'm confused and worried for the rest of my...

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Well I answered my own question, the betta eats anything I put in there so it's not viable at all. He ate so many of the micropellets he's bloated now, and I had to fish them out as he kept eating... What a pig lol. So I'm just keeping the one in bad shape in there (He refuses to eat anyhow) And...

Having looked around some more they are actually False Juliis.

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Okay well I got new food (Omega One pellets) and 5 more cories to make the group of six and immediately noticed the issue when I got home. No, my gravel is not sharp, but apparently it must be rough because my current cory (Who I couldn't really get a good look at for a while since he alternated...

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Local fishstore just called them spotted cories, but I have to assume it's a dwarf since it's maybe an inch. Although maybe they just grow really slowly... Looks like a corydoras araguaiaensis. I'll see if I can get a picture when I get home.

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Haha okay, I'll see if I can find some better food and then grab him about 5 friends. I heard 6 is good for a group.

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Still, that doesn't explain why this one in particular refuses to touch the bottom of the tank. It's not all gravel, I have a bridge in there they used to lay on that is smooth so I don't think the substrate is the issue. Could parasites in the belly or something cause this behavior?

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Looking at the ingredients, no, not really... The first ingredient is wheat flour, then Shrimp meal... It's all they had in stock, and I didn't really think about it. If that's somehow killing them in as little as a month I guess I need to order some online or find another store.

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

Yes sorry they're shrimp pellets, not algae... I was in Chemistry and wasn't fully paying attention. The substrate is gravel, which I heard is a potential problem if it wears down their barbels, but my gravel isn't sharp and never seemed to bother them. The only thing I use is Prime when I...

29 Gallon Tank Cories keep dying, can't figure out why

I have been having this problem since I started getting Cories but never posted for some reason. I had heard that they're playful and fun little fish and I only had two angels in the tank so I figured they'd liven up the bottom area a bit. However, for some reason I just can't keep them alive. I...

5 Gallon Tank What should I add to new Betta tank?

Good to know, I'll consider adding a bubbler if I can find an outlet that will reach xD. I was also debating mystery snails, and saw that someone else had mentioned it as well. Should I wait until after the cycling is complete to add a snail? I know they produce a good amount of waste.

    Tankmate Help

Some guppies are extremely colorful and in my experience they are very hardy. They get along with most fish too it seems, although probably not bettas... I can definitely see conflict and fin nipping there. Just my input ^-^

5 Gallon Tank What should I add to new Betta tank?

Thanks for the advice everyone I fixed the pictures, although they're not very good. My Ipod doesn't focus well in water I guess, and he's very active. I also noticed a few white specs on him that I was worried was ich, but they're falling off as quickly as they're appearing. They're only on...

5 Gallon Tank What should I add to new Betta tank?

I got a male crowntail from petsmart a few days ago and set him up in a 5 gallon that had been running for about a week. I'm aiming to cycle it with him in it. Besides some mishaps with the filter and sand, no problems so far. What I would like to know is what should be added to make him...

5 Gallon Tank Filter sucked up sand and is now very noisy

I'll see what I can do thanks. Think he'll be okay for a while without a filter?

5 Gallon Tank Filter sucked up sand and is now very noisy

Yeah I removed everything and took out the impeller, the magnet has very fine lines on it, almost like they are supposed to be there. I guess spinning at extremely high speeds against fine grains might do that though. I clean out that area too but the sound persists. I guess the filter is ruined?

    Are my guppies pregnant?

Most likely pregnant. The gravid spot near the back will turn dark and their stomach will swell like that. Be careful you maintain maintenance on them, I let mine go wild and who knows what generation of inbreeding they're in now... I knew nothing about fishkeeping when I got them and still...
