Do think Malaysian trumpet snails are pests?

I understand you were trying to be helpful. In my 25 yrs of fish keeping I have never heard that Planarian eat snails, I still didn't see that in the links provided. It was not my intention to be sarcastic I'm sorry you perceived my post that way. If my post had been just for you I would have...

    Pest snail control

Using chemicals of any kind in your tanks should be a last resort. Even though the package may say it won't hurt your fish or plants many times it will weaken them and this leaves plants and fish open for disease. If you are having a Planarian or snail outbreak you are most likely over...

Do think Malaysian trumpet snails are pests?

Malaysian Trumpet Snails and Planarians are two different critters. There is no comparison.

I need my tank to cycle faster (already seeded plus used bottled bacteria)

Cycling isn't a fast thing. Patience will be in your favor. I have never used Dr Tim's products but according to your numbers it won't be long until Nitrates are up and Amonia is gone.

    Angelmania a scam?

Since they've been stressed to the max you might want to keep their water about 82-84f and do extra water changes to prevent Ich and other stress related diseases. So glad things turned out well. Carol

    Angelmania a scam?

Survival depends on so much. Packaging, temperature during travel and health of fish when shipped. Did they say when you would receive them? Please let us know how it all comes out. Carol

    Pest snail control

No not really. Snail over population usually indicates overfeeding of the tank. A good vacuuming, a large water change, reduction in feeding and manual removal of excess snails should go a long way toward controlling them. Finding why their over populating is the only way to control them.

    Angelmania a scam?

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Are they going to reship? Or the post send the package on to you. You will need it if their dead to take pics as proof. In extreme cases they could still be alive. Carol

    Angelmania a scam?

Angellover1007 I removed your post, getting replies in two places can be confusing. This way everything is in one place and not confused with the original poster in the other thread. Have you contacted the company you ordered from? Carol

    Amazon sword lifespan

Sword plants are heavy root feeders. Root tabs pushed into the substrate as close to the roots as you can get them will most likely bring your sword plant back. Probably even make it multiply. Hope that helps Carol

    hot water

Have never used that type of heater. I tried not to use a tank smaller than 5g for that reason. Good luck! Keep us posted and let us know how things are going. Carol

    Plant only tank

I would personally prefer the water not get below 60f for plants. So a heater on low would work just to keep the temp steady. Although I have kept Java Moss and Anubias in unheated tanks and they did well. I had fish in mine to pick off dead leaves, peck around the bottom and I just liked it...

    hot water

Welcome to FishLore! Warm water holds less oxygen than cooler water. I personally think as long as you have water movement and keep up your water changes you should be fine as far as the Shrimp are concerned. Temp depends on the plants. Some don't handle constant warmer temps. Hope that helps...
