One rope fish dead, worried about the other two

Ammonia is mostly vanished, one rope fish came out and started eating today. Has anyone heard of EI dosing having such a negative effect on fish like this? That's the only variable I can think of that would have done this. I don't want to hurt my fish, but my plants need ferts.

One rope fish dead, worried about the other two

Ammonia is at .25ppm today, looks to be dropping after removing the dead fish. Dosed Prime again, offered food but again the other ropes did not eat. Any thoughts from anybody?

One rope fish dead, worried about the other two

I had three rope fish in a 120 gallon, I got them about two months ago. I got them pellet trained, and all seemed well. The only thing I can think of that I changed recently was that I started dosing dry fertilizers...

Rope fish not eating after a week

Of course they would wait until after I make a post about it to finally start eating... I came in to work this morning to find the bloodworms I gave them missing, so I figured one of them must have finally come around. I feed them with a glass bottle to contain the mess of uneaten food, so I put...

Rope fish not eating after a week

I've had my own guppy tank going for a good while now. No disease there.

Rope fish not eating after a week

I'll get some shrimp for 'em. What's wrong with feeding guppies?

Rope fish not eating after a week

I'm not sure what their origin is, I picked them up at the LFS. So I should try to get them eating live food before getting them onto frozen food? I have a guppy tank I could pull from, or I could give them some ghost shrimp.

Rope fish not eating after a week

I got three rope fish about a week ago, all roughly 8" long. They've gone into a 120 gallon and currently have it to themselves. It's a nice aquarium, heavily planted. I seeded the filter and it looks to be cycled. Chiller holds the tank at about 76*F. They hide mostly, even with the lights out...

    Ghost Shrimp vs Whisker Shrimp?

I wish they would be more clear on what they were selling as well. I bought what I thought were 6 ghost shrimp only to have them end up being Macrobrachium rosenbergii, a prawn that gets up to a foot long! Two feet long with the long arms of the males. They are very territorial and eat...

    MTS Helpline

Hello, my name is Echostatic, or Echo for short. I'm afraid I can't quite recall what started things, but I had one planted 29 gallon aquarium with a dwarf gourami, some harlequin rasboras and some neon tetras. From there, I took an interest in bettas. A simple planted 10 gallon wouldn't be a...

I couldn't tell ya... I'm guessing they showed up with some live plants. They were simply there one day.

What did you do to your tank(s) today

I'm about to do water changes on my 20g and 29g. The 29g has had some wisteria start floating that needs to be replanted. The 20g has new tiny baby guppies in it, I'm sure they will make siphoning water challenging. They're cute though. I'm kinda surprised the crayfish doesn't bother the guppies.

    Does anyone else love...

I love the tiny little critters that show up sometimes. I have super tiny bugs that hop on the surface of my 29g right now.

    Petsmart - Black Friday sales

I bought a 120g combo at Petsmart and two Cascade 1500 filters, a 300w heater, 200w heater and 240lbs of sand from Pet Mountain. My Macrobrachium rosenbergii is going to love his new home when he's big enough for it, but my coworkers think I'm kind of strange for setting up such a huge tank at...

Can anyone advise on Macrobrachium rosenbergii care?

I'm not completely positive, but it seems likely.

Can anyone advise on Macrobrachium rosenbergii care?

Seems most standard tanks max out around 18" width until you strt getting around 120 gallons or so. That might be a bit too large. Any suggestions? 24" cube tank?

Can anyone advise on Macrobrachium rosenbergii care?

I know, I'm not trying to do any breeding, I'm just trying to keep a single shrimp.

    Shrimp Tanks

I just started a 10 gallon pearl blue neocaridina tank myself. Should be plenty big enough.

Can anyone advise on Macrobrachium rosenbergii care?

So a bit of backstory first, cuz why not? I stopped by my LFS to pick up a few things and figured I would get some ghost shrimp while I was up there. I got 5 shrimp, and he just gave them to me. (They were only $0.10 each anyway.) I posted a picture of one elsewhere, and someone pointed out that...

    Fish to Control Guppy Fry

I currently have an angelfish. He doesn't seem to bother the guppies much. I don't have any fry yet (maybe he's eating them all?) but with two gravid females, he should have plenty of treats soon.
