Help!! Betta ate large amount of snello, HUGE belly

Thank you all! Today the belly is much smaller. Still bloated but not so scary. He is acting “normal,” swimming around etc whereas last night he was hiding under his bridge at the bottom. Probably too heavy to swim up lol. Learned my lesson, feed the snails their snello separately!

Help!! Betta ate large amount of snello, HUGE belly

Thank you! So there is nothing I can do for him except wait it out? He won’t die just from eating that much (or specifically eating snello - baby food peas, calcium, fish flakes, gelatin)?

Help!! Betta ate large amount of snello, HUGE belly

Help! (Sorry I would have posted this is the “help” forum but I can’t find it. Please help...I made some snello for my two nerites, and five minutes later went to check to see if they like it and omg, Simon the betta obviously just glommed onto it because his belly is HUGE! What can I do for...

Extended power outage, how to help betta stay warm enough

Hi all, thanks so much for the helpful advice! I did try wrapping his tank in thick towels and that worked for a night but we had a cold snap along with the power outage, with the next day temps in the 50s in the house. So off he went, evacuated to a friend's house in the next town over with his...

Extended power outage, how to help betta stay warm enough

Added question: we do have friends the next town over who have power. Do you think it would be less stressful to bring Simon to their house in his temporary tank but with heater and filter, or try to make him as comfortable as possible without either? Thanks in advance!

Extended power outage, how to help betta stay warm enough

Hi everyone, I live in Northern California and there are extended power outages happening bc of fire danger and an actual fire creeping closer to town. We are on evacuation alert and I’ve got betta Simon’s escape cup plus a one gallon tank for temporary evacuation home, so we’re all set there...

    Really Sick Betta

Wait! Before you consider euthanizing him, it seems like there are experts on this forum that could help you figure out what happened and how to help him. Did you post in the “sick fish” forum? There are so many people here with a vast collective knowledge. I know a little but not enough to...

    Water Changes- Betta Fish

Cool name! Prime is a water conditioner so you don’t need to do both, I’d recommend just using Prime. It only takes a couple drops per gallon so you can add it to the tank when Kratos is in there, but for me I usually try to do everything at once when replacing water, and at that point I take...

Sad - Both Mystery Snails Died At The Same Time.

Thank you! I appreciate your response! I will keep the teenies for a bit longer in the snail tank til I decide what to do. It’s strange but I keep going over to that tank to “check” on the mystery snails to see how they are but...not there. Ah well. I’m sorry about your ramshorns, that must...

    Water Changes- Betta Fish

Hi! Welcome to the wonderful world of keeping bettas - they are so fun and curious little guys. In general, tank should be cycled before you put in any fish, and contrary to typical LFS advice, adding quick start or other tank starters do not instantly cycle your tank. If your betta is already...

Sad - Both Mystery Snails Died At The Same Time.

Hi all, not really looking for advice, mostly empathy I guess. I had two mystery snails, a gold one named Lord Varys and an ivory named Danaerys (probably not the best names for them, in retrospect lol). They were originally in a 10-gallon tank with my betta Simon but Simon decided their...

    Mystery Snail On His Backside?

Don’t give up! If he’s still hanging in there after a month with no water change, he’ll probably perk up a lot. Good advice you’re getting, I’d suggest at least changing the water while you wait to get the liquid test kit. Ammonia should be zero, nitrite zero, and 5-20ppm nitrates.

    Help Betta Newbie....and Marbled Betta

Aw, he’s beautiful. Poor thing to have to go through the mail, he’s a sentient being! How do they even mail a fish? Seems so weird to me. I’m sure you could find someone local to take him if you don’t want him...he may likely die if he goes back in the mail. Bettas are hardy but even they can...

Help! Sudden Crash Of Cycled Tank!

Hi, just checked this thread after about 10 days, not sure if you're still interested, but imo as long as you use a reputable brand (TSS, Nite Out, Dr Tims) it doesn’t really matter what type of bacteria you use.

Ammonia Always At .25 No Matter What I Do

Thank you, and I agree. I used the exact same test bottles to test this tank, my snail tank, my tap and ROI water, just to see if that was part of the problem, but tap and ROI water always test at 0 ammonia (my mystery snails are piggy gross stinkers so their tank always has to be almost...
