i hope they do, didnt buy them to breed but now id like them to succeed, they seem to do everything right, mum fans the eggs constantly while dad looks on and flys to the front of the tank when anyone approaches, then when hatching she moves them to pits dad has dug. 48hours later they eat them...
my large 5inch silver dollar came with a hexagonal tank i bought, thinking i was doing him a favour i put him in my 55gl rectangle tank. he just hid for days and would not eat. i bought him a new friend and put him back in his hexagonal tank and hes doing fine again.
i had a tank of what id call normal tropicals, guppies, platys etc. i added 3 ottos and saw them for a week then after that they just disappeared, same thing happened to a male guppy and bristlenose plec
i have 4 dps in a 20gl, eeny meeny miny and mo. no idea what sex they are yet but the tank is heavily planted so they can escape from each other. fingers crossed though they all seem to be getting on fine.
