    Help Sick New Betta

Well I messaged the breeder and he apologized. He said he thought it would be okay because they were from the same tank, but the bag was too small and they fought. He said he will replace her next time I get that way. So he thinks she was fine and healthy when he bagged her. I am so...

    Help Sick New Betta

My tank has tannins, will that count instead of the indian almond leaves? I don't know if she was missing an eye before. I don't think so, but really can't be certain. Yes both bettas were in the same bag. I will try to get a picture

    Help Sick New Betta

Got 2 new female betta fish today from a local breeder with a good reputation. Breeder says they have been together since birth. My friend picked them up for me. Unfortunately, "local" for us is still over an hour away, plus there were other stops on the way home, so took 3.5 hours to get the...

Guppy With White Lump On Side

Okay, I caught the fish and held it to examine... not something I like to do to any fish, much less a sick fish, but. My current best guess is that it is some kind of injury. There appeared to be a red hole on the underside of the white part, so maybe the white is a tag of skin that has peeled...

Guppy With White Lump On Side

I don't think so, the end looks more pointed, not Y shaped. I will catch the fish to examine more closely, however.

Guppy With White Lump On Side

This is a young guppy, maybe 4 months old. I have had them a month or so. Tonight when feeding them, I noticed one has a white lump sticking out of its side. It is actually from the side, not the anus, so I was confused what it might be. So far, the fish is swimming fine and keeping up with the...

Carpeting Plants For 10 Gallon For Shrimp

Okay, I need to read ALL the posts before I post a reply. I agree. I don't like stem plants so I didn't recognize it. But it definitely looks like your picture.

Carpeting Plants For 10 Gallon For Shrimp

Thank you! I wonder what plant that is, doesn't look like anything I recognize so far. Hopefully it becomes more recognizable as it grows a bit. How long has it been submersed? If its been submersed for a month and still looks like that, then I would agree that it is an aquatic plant. If its...

Nilocg Thrive... Which One To Use?

Right, sorry, my wording wasn't very clear. Nilocg claims that the source of carbon in ThriveC is NOT gluteraldehyde. I am not aware of any other liquid carbon sources that are bioavailable to plants. There may be something out there, but if so, I wonder why no one else is using it.

Nilocg Thrive... Which One To Use?

I am inclined to go with Mak's advice and the regular Thrive. I like the idea of a bioavailable carbon source in ThriveC, and if it is real, it would be awesome. However, I am skeptical. First, I have never heard of another readily available carbon source for aquariums other than...

    Unknown Plant

Not a lot of help, but that isn't a rhizome and isn't an anubias. It could be something in the crypt family, although I haven't seen any with such broad leaves.

Carpeting Plants For 10 Gallon For Shrimp

Fluval stratum is a great choice for a planted tank. It gets expensive for large tanks, but not too bad for small tanks. As far as your carpet, my shrimps' favorite plant, by far, is moss. Its a bit more difficult to carpet with moss though. Usually you attach the moss to some kind of mesh...

Carpeting Plants For 10 Gallon For Shrimp

I am curious about your carpet, because what I have heard is that those seeds aren't usually aquatic plants. Could you provide a photo that shows a closer look at the carpet plants? I think they look great so far.

    Guppy Strains?

This website is not at all comprehensive, but I found it to be a good resource to learn some of the terminology. Guppy Types | Guppy Associates International Chicago Also, if there is a certain type of guppy you are interested in, search for it in Google and in this forum. I have found good...

    New To Raising Guppies

Thank you! I am currently working on the scaping in the tank. I plan to trim out a few plants and rearrange a bunch of the anubias, tying it onto my driftwood. That should free up some swimming space. Can you imagine the time it takes for a low-light, no CO2 tank to look overgrown with...

    Simplest Shrimp To Keep Alive?

You have gotten good advice. Cherry shrimp are hardy, quite small, and should breed to maintain your population. Ghost shrimp are slightly bigger, amano a bit bigger yet. They will stay a stable population and are white/clear in color. All are hardy and should do okay in your tank.
