    NeverEndingNinja's 55 Gallon[NEW!]

Well, not a new aquarium, but might as well be. Since the last time I posted anything about it, I've put in new bulbs(SunPaq 6700/10000k), added pressurized CO2 and started doing EI dosing. I had a little green spot algae outbreak, but I think that was due to the brief nutrient deficiency...

    Birthday presents on the way!

Well, my birthday isn't until the 27th, but I went ahead and got my presents on the way. My mom bought me two Current SunPaq 6700º/10000ºK 65w CF bulbs to replace my 50/50s. Since she was ordering from DFS, I went ahead and got 1 bottle Prime(100ml), 2 bottles of Excel(250ml), 1 bottle Flourish...

    New fish!

Well, the plan was, as of this morning, to take my female keyhole cichlid and male bolivian ram and give them to the LFS, and get a fresh batch of 6 juvi keyholes. So, the fish from my tank got bagged up and we drove an hour to the LFS. When I got there, I handed the fish off to the most...

    My back hurts, but...

...my 55gal finally has eco-complete! What a chore...it went something like this. Remove light and hood Remove all plants from tank Siphon 10 gallons into spare 10 gallon tank Add thin layer of substrate to 10 gallon tank Remove both filters, install on 10 gallon tank Install heater on 10 gallon tank Catch...

    Found Anemone in Brackish Water

Today, I went to the Weeks Bay Estuary just to walk around, and while walking along the shore, noticed a very odd looking...thing. Needless to say, it sparked my interest. I got closer, and realized it was a sea anemone attached to an oak leaf. I picked it up, found a contain and placed it in...

Fish and stuff on the way!

Well, my HC and pygmy sword did not show up today, so they should be here Monday. Hopefully they will still be in decent condition by then, or else I will have to take it up with the seller. But, on a good note, I have other stuff on the way. I have 6 olive nerite snails, already acclimated to...

Some of my fish(and the fish keeper!)

Well, first off, the fish keeper Sorry about the blurriness, but the fish were feeling quite randy at the time and refused to be still, but I had to get a shot of my male Bolivian ram's coloring at the time.

    Bolivian Ram eggs

Well, yesterday I drove 5 hours north to see a show(https://you_tube.com/watch?v=g_txpHfRuaM <--awesome video I shot[remove the _ from between you and tube]), and I didn't get home until 6am this morning, didn't go to sleep til 7:15am....then, I lounged around all day trying to recoup and...

52 watts over 10 gallons, woohoo!

The "Alternate Lighting" thread inspired me to do a retrofit on my hood. I went to walmart and spent $3.27x2 on sockets, $6.97 on two 26w spiral CFs, and $2.87 on some cord stock. Came home, and a piece of 1x6 cut into mounts, a few wire nuts, a little head scratching and an hour and a half...

    Hooray for no QT :/

Well, I finally learned the hard way. Always QT your fish. I've now lost every one of my cory cats and all but two of my otos. 5 of the new rasboras I purchased have died. Luckily, my farlowella cat, pleco and all my cichlids are fine. They are all eating healthy, showing no signs of...

    Natural desires, hehe

Oh, how I wish I had $200 and some room for a 75 gal. They have a 75gal tank with 56w of t5 light and a nice glass hood for only $199 at my LFS. They also have the tank by itself for only $99. I'm tempted to purchase the 75gal, plenty of biospira, some eco complete and just move everything...

    Trading in my guppies, possibly

I'm considering giving my guppies to the LFS and picking up some egg layers instead. After my guppies dropped just one small batch of fry, if I let them grow out, they're going to put me just over my bio-load. I think I'd be better off getting some non-live bearers. I think the harlequin...

    Medication and plants

I have a cory cat with pop eye...I noticed a couple of days ago he had a sore on his face, but now it has turned into pop eye. It hasn't seemed to have gotten better with frequent water changes, so I was going to medicate. Would I be ok to medicate the whole tank, or do I need to get a hospital...

I think we're getting too specific.

Now threads are being moved from the 'general discussion' forum to "non fish category > other topics"? Thats a tad bit ridiculous, in my opinion. It makes it FAR too confusing on where to post topics. And this forum is described as "Feel free to talk about anything and everything in this board."...

Woohoo! New rubber on all 4 corners!

Anyone else absolutely love getting new tires? I don't drive the most exciting automobile, a 95 Mazda 626, but boy oh boy is it nice have new tires. My old ones had less than 1/32nd of an inch of tread, and my alignment was so far off. Its like being on pillows now, compared to the old ride...

    Woohoo, guppy fry

So, I noticed one of my female guppies darting after something last night, and sure enough, it was a baby guppy. They must have been residing in the plants I lazily let accumulate at the surface of the water when they come out of the substrate, heheh....at least they kept my babies alive...

    Kids sure are funny

My 18 month old son just made some "tea". He watches his mom make tea every day, and she covers the cup with a small saucer so it doesn't evaporate while it steeps. He had a cup of water, and a bowl of chex cereal. He added the chex to the cup of water, covered it with the bowl and said "hot tea...

    San Fransisco Bay Bloodworms

Well, seems none of my fish like them. They tear up the other brand of bloodworms I normally feed, which are smaller than the SF Bay brand, although the SF ones aren't too large for them. Even the cories didn't want them. I ended up having to vacuum every bit of them out, and feed the other...

    Burnt hornwort?

I'm wondering if I'm burning my hornwort in my 55 gal tank. Its under 2.45 WPG of compact fluorescent lights, 10000k and actinic(its what they sent with the lights...I plan on going to nothing but 10000k when I get some extra dough...gotta buy tires though) ANY HOW....I have the 'submersum'...
