Driftwood Forming Fungus Like Mold... Again???

Lol the title of that video is awesome. Thanks. However, this piece has been in the tank since the day the tank was up and running. It has gone through this phase once before. I don’t know why it’s doing it again.

Driftwood Forming Fungus Like Mold... Again???

I wish I could! It’s only a 6 gallon so the snail and betta is at max occupancy lol. I was able to take some photos as I let the fuzz grow out again... this is what it looks like now... it has turned from a grayish/black to a lighter color... the snail hasn’t touched it at all.

Driftwood Forming Fungus Like Mold... Again???

I have a ton of live plants and have had them since the tank was set up in January. It’s just a little concerning because it’s only happening to one piece of driftwood besides the black spots on another piece of wood (I only have spiderwood in my tank and they’re not extremely thin pieces). I...

Driftwood Forming Fungus Like Mold... Again???

hey all! It’s been a minute since I’ve been on this forum... everything in my tank is going extremely well... those little pesky worms have been eradicated and just disappeared on its own (yay!) but now there seems to be something strange going on in my tank. For a couple of weeks now, a piece...

    Driftwood Cleaning?

Aren’t tannins the sole reason of blackwater tanks? Because I thought that blackwater is produced by excess amounts of tannins from driftwood, Indian almond leaves etc...

    Driftwood Cleaning?

I have seen a lot of people take wood from lakes and make really nice scapes with it. However, I’d be weary of the idea in terms of safety since not all types of wood can go in a tank (some types of wood are toxic). Once you’ve determined what type of wood it is and if it’s safe to use, I’d do...

Question Eradicating Detritus Worms? Please Only Respond If You Have Been Through It And Have Had Success!

I do my water changes like any other person would do. It’s kind of impossible to “squirt” water around the substrate since I have sand... unless I want to make a sand tornado, I don’t think it’s very wise to do what you just stated. All debris lays on top of sand... I stir it up a little once a...

40 Gallon Tank Fish Project For 4 Yr Old And Daddy

Glad your tank is doing well. I’d do both. In my opinion, the more plants, the better.

Question Who Else Has Had Detritus Worms On Their Fish?

I’m 100000000% positive it’s detritus. He eats them all the time when they aren’t on him. This is the second time that he has had them on his body and it happens when I barely have any water flow in the tank which he appreciates so he doesn’t get thrashed around.

Question Who Else Has Had Detritus Worms On Their Fish?

Not sure if I’m posting this in the correct place but... I’ve been dealing with microscopic detritus worms for months now with no way of eradicating them. I’m pretty sure they came with some Ohko stone I took from my LFS’s established tank and have been battling with it since! I don’t over...

Question Ich In Glofish... What’s The Best Treatment Option?

I’ll have him try the heat method first and see if that resolves it in a couple of weeks. If not, then I’ll go ahead and get meds. Hopefully I won’t need it though. Thank you. Alright thank you.

Question Ich In Glofish... What’s The Best Treatment Option?

Perfect. Thank you. I’ll tell my fiancé to bump the temp up within several hours until it reaches to 86 degrees. Do you suggest removing the gravel and keeping it soaked in old tank water? There’s about an inch and a half of gravel. The tank was just recently cycled about 3 weeks ago. I’m just...

Question Ich In Glofish... What’s The Best Treatment Option?

So meds are a better choice since it’s less work?

Question Ich In Glofish... What’s The Best Treatment Option?

Hey all! So I’ve never personally have gone through treating ich but I know what it looks like and have heard/read that it can be treated in multiple ways (heat, aquarium salt, meds). I came across this article but not sure if I should go this route...

    Carpet Shampooer

I’ve never owned one of those. I’ve always had to mix hot water with some carpet shampoo for the ones I have used.

    Carpet Shampooer

Oh no... Lol what the heck? Are you doing your entire house at once? A gallon should be plenty for a normal house... I can do 4 large rooms and 3 large area rugs with it... I live in a 3,500 sqft home if that helps. If you aren’t happy with it, return it for something else... the ones that have...

    Please Help Save My Betta!

That looks painful. The fact that you have ammonia and nitrites but no nitrates tells me that something is off or your tank isn’t cycled. And, doing bi-weekly 10% water changes are not helping. You should be changing at least 25% weekly. From the second photo, it looks like your betta has bloat...

40 Gallon Tank Why Do My Fake Plants Get So Dirty

If it sits for too long then yes it can especially on the tank walls. I usually rub them off as soon as I see them. If that doesn’t work and it’s stubborn, a clean and unused toothbrush will work just fine. It’s what I use to clean rocks, filter parts, plants, etc.

40 Gallon Tank Why Do My Fake Plants Get So Dirty

And not enough flow/circulation. They usually grow because of silicates in the water which is especially true if you’re using silica sand as substrate. Too much nutrients and nitrates and/or low oxygen content can also be the cause.
